There are many things that we do in our daily lives, be it at work or somewhere out. And for a majority of the things that we do, there are some rules to be followed. We have to consider the appropriate etiquette and act accordingly, so that we do not fall into any kind of embarrassment or an unfortunate situation. Let us now discuss some etiquette to be followed while being in the office, communicating via email, eating in a hotel, being present in a corporate meet, and similar other situations.

Etiquette To Be Followed

When Sending Emails
There are some very simple Internet etiquette to consider when sending an email. Avoid extra long sentences, know the purpose for sending the email, do not make silly mistakes in grammar and spellings, never use uppercase as it relates to words expressed angrily, and do not use short forms and emoticons (especially in corporate emails). The last and the most important email etiquette rule is to check the email twice before sending it across to the recipient.

While Out at Dinner
If you are thinking of table rules, there are many, however, let us discuss only the most important dining etiquette. Eat slowly and in small bites, start to eat only after all members are served, cut only one to two pieces of food at a time using the appropriate knife and fork, do not talk when you have food in your mouth, never make noise while chewing the food, and do not try to take the food yourself if it is a bit far from you on the table.

While in a Meeting
While attending a meeting in your office, it is suggested that you keep your PDAs and mobile phones on silent mode. Also, do not keep these gadgets on the table, even though they are in the 'vibration' mode. It is a good business etiquette to come on time or five minutes before the meeting starts. If some other person is speaking, do not interrupt him and start talking. It is always a better and beneficial idea to come to the meeting with due preparedness.

At the Workplace
Now comes the most important part, that is office etiquette. When you are at your desk and talking on the phone, you should make sure that your conversation is not disturbing your colleagues around. Good telephone etiquette is to choose an appropriate place where no one will get disturbed by your talk. Do not go to your colleagues' desk and start gossip or crack jokes for a long time. Do not read notes and information which are on other employee's desk.

While Serving Food
Food serving etiquette should be followed in order to make the guests feel comfortable and welcomed for the feast. In a typical setting; the guest of honor should be served first, then the ladies, followed by men, and finally the individuals hosting the feast. If the server is not sure about the identity of the guests, he can start with the eldest woman and offer the service accordingly till the youngest man.

These were some significant etiquette rules to be followed according to their respective setting. There are many other codes of conduct that are to be considered when being in a particular setting.
