Essential Fatty Acids help to keep the heart healthy, the mind fresh and the skin elastic and supple. Life without them is terrible and definitely unhealthy.

Judging by the way the media, the weight loss industry and most information sources in general carry on, you would be forgiven for thinking that fats were like poison. This is an unfortunate mode of thinking, would have many thinking that fat is bad and that the fact that fat is essential, must be wrong, but it isn't.

Fat is Essential

There is no way to get around it, fat is essential to existence. Without fat your body just can't function correctly.

Essential fatty acids give your body the right fat to make many proper body functions. Those people who lack essential fats, often have a myriad of health problems ranging from the minor such as dry skin and hair, but can extend to such dangers as heart disease and actual fatty acids deficiencies.

Yes - Essential

These fats are essential, you may have read news on how, many people are using them as a dietary supplement nowadays. Fat is going to be a part of our lives and frankly I enjoy the flavor!

Now that we've established that we need fats, which ones should we consume?

Omega 6

These are good fats, but consumed in excess aren't considered as beneficial as omega 3 fats. Omega 6 fats can be found soy based products, nuts and many plant based fats.

Omega 3

These are the ultimate fats and can be considered the best. These help heart health, and promote excellent mental aptitude. Omega 3 fatty acids can be found in nuts, seafood and seeds.

You don't need to consume a lot of fat to enjoy the maximum benefits of essential fatty acids, a good rule of thumb is to eat oily fish such as salmon at least three times per week and a small handful of nuts every day.

keeping a good diet and including fat in it is a surefire way to feel good and run at your peak rather than feeling slow and lethargic, which lacking the right fats can cause.
