Escape to Joverville
Dianna Glimpse is a little girl with a big heart, and a big dream. She's well on her way to getting her dream, which is dancing, until...until the sinister figure in the blue overcoat and black hat comes and knocks on her door, until she finds out the truth, the dreary, dark truth...about her family.
Chapter One
Carolyn Davidson reached over and tapped Dianna with her pencil. "Ten more minutes 'till summer." She told her friend. Dianna smiled at Carolyn and bounced a little in her seat, quickly stopping when she met her teacher's sharp glare. "Ms. Glimpse," Her teacher said in her sharp voice. "I know you are excited about the end of the school year, but do you mind keeping it to yourself? You are disrupting others in their work."
"Sorry..." Mumbled Dianna, slouching down in her seat. Carolyn tried to stifle a laugh, but it turned out like a sneezing cough.
"And you, Ms. Davidson." Ms. Aide turned to Carolyn, who straightened up immediately. "Do you need a drink of water?"
Carolyn shook her head no, and then she looked at Dianna and they both tried not to smile.
"Aide is a nightmare, glad for you." Michael, Dianna's older brother, drained the last of his energy drink and slapped it down on the table. "You're moving on to sixth grade already? God, Di, I remember you a little baby in your tiny winy diaper."
"Oh, shut up." Dianna told her brother, who leered and licked his red lips. "Not like you still don't need one."
"Kids." Mr. Glimpse entered the kitchen, newspaper in hand. "Are you two fighting again?"
"No, Dad." They both said, sitting up straight. Mr. Glimpse smiled, and Dianna and Michael sighed a sigh of relief. Mr. Glimpse had promised them if they didn't fight at all over the summer, they would both get their own laptop.
"Good." Mr. Glimpse said, smiling as he sat down in his chair and began to eat an afternoon snack.
