An Equal Start?

A child starts as a child but not everyone has an equal start…
The child was beaten by another,
Then he was given away.
The carers all stopped loving,
Then taught him he was bad.
All his life rejected….
….As he grew into a lad.

Even as he aged and grew into a man,
Others always hurt him as often as they can.
Bruise by bruise,
Emotion found through pain,
Slowly driving the madman insane.

Yet still… love for the world he had,
Although constantly alone and permanently sad.
All he had loved was taken, all he had was gone.
They took away his voice,
They even stole his song.

They tore down his defenses,
Whilst poisoning his heart,
Not everyone in life,
Gets an equal start.
