Engagement Rings in Different Cultures

In all cultures, the meaning behind the engagement rings is the same. It signifies a bond of love sincerity and care between the couple. It is a mark of that commitment and promise which they make with their partners that they will stick to each other no matter what happens.
When a couple is getting engaged, there is usually at least one ring exchanged. This engagement ring reflects something special. It does not make a difference what the ring signifies, it has been a tradition for people around the world to wear it before getting married.

Each culture has its own traditions behind engagement rings. In the Western culture, woman receives the ring when the man proposes .She then wears this ring on her left hand finger that shows she is now committed to the man and plans to marry him. At the time of the wedding, the woman gets a second ring usually a band that signifies she is no longer engaged but married. At the same time, the man also receives a wedding band that shows his married status.

In countries like Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and Finland rings are usually exchanged between the couple when they are being committed. Both have to wear the ring and when they are getting married, the man receives a wedding band and the woman receives a second ring. But in Germany, things are a little different. The rings are simply moved from left to right hand to show that they are married now.

In some countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, the ring is usually worn on the left hand ring finger but in countries like Ukraine and Poland, it is commonly worn on the right hand.

In all cultures, the meaning behind these engagement rings is the same. It signifies a bond of love sincerity and care between the couple. It is a mark of that commitment and promise which they make with their partners that they will stick to each other no matter what happens.

The most expensive rings are the diamond rings. Many women love to have the pink diamond engagement rings, these days.
