Ending Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis

Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a common condition in women due to the fact that BV is treated with the use of antibiotics. Antibiotics can kill both the good and the bad bacteria, so if the bad outgrows the good, the condition will likely occur again.
Chronic Bacterial Vaginosis is a disease found in women, and its symptoms can be worsened by intercourse with more than 1 partner. It is not technically considered as a sexually transmitted disease, but sexual activity many times makes the symptoms much worse. In some cases, there are still women who can have this disease even if they still don’t have any sexual experience. Another cause for this is the changes in the pH balance in your vagina.

Chronic Bacteria Vaginosis Symptoms

- Fishy odor that is coming out of the vaginal area
- Abnormal amount of discharge, usually whitish or greyish in color
- A burning sensation during urination or an itchy feeling in the vagina
- A white layer on your vaginal walls that can be seen on your pelvic exam
- Cramps may also be present

There are a lot of ways to treat recurrent BV. First step is to determine whether you really have this disease. You may check the list above for the symptoms and would then want to consult your doctor or if you are not comfortable in seeing a doctor, there are over the counter medicines that you can buy. It comes in the form of vaginal cream or gel. There are also antibiotics, but be careful because some antibiotics may kill a number good bacteria needed for our body’s defense which will later on become the reason for you to be more prone on acquiring it again.

Since one of the reasons why women can get this disease is by having an unbalanced vaginal pH level, there are a lot of ways wherein we can maintain balanced ph level. This is by having proper diet, drinking a lot of water, eating nutritious food like fruits and vegetables. Eating yogurt can also help maintain a balanced ph, since it has live microorganisms that help increase your supply of good bacteria.

By doing this, you not only get a balanced pH level but also a healthier lifestyle that can lead to a better looking skin and a fit body. Some other things to avoid are using of vaginal lubricants or oils and douching. By staying away from these practices, you will have lesser chances of getting the disease. It will also be helpful if you use condoms during sexual intercourse.

Having recurring episodes of Bacterial Vaginosis can really be very embarrassing especially with your partner. That is why it is very important that we take good care of ourselves and do all the necessary precautions to avoid acquiring any types of diseases.
