The work history provided to the recruiter or to the company should contain only accurate and true data. The companies will check out the work history and if they find the data to be inaccurate, there are chances of them blacklisting the resume of the candidate. The candidates at times would have to provide previous employment references; this would help the employer to gather general information about the candidate.

Once a candidate has completed his graduation, the interruption in between successive employments should have substantial explanation. The reason is the potential employers may suspect the candidate of having a bad work history or was serving a period of imprisonment. Hence, while applying for a job make sure that you have valid reasons for the breaks in the work history.

Most of the background screening companies provides only general screening such as pre-employment history, education history, credit history and so on. Therefore, if you want any specialized screening it has to be notified to the screening firms. For instance, if a potential candidate would be working with children, then the employer can ask the background screening firm to find out if he has any criminal record.
