Elton John Wants Justin Timberlake to Play him in Biopic
Elton John has said that his number one pick to play him in a planned biopic is none other than Justin Timberlake.
Justin Timberlake appears to have made the complete transformation from music to films - and he's now being handpicked for choice roles by entertainment icons. Elton John recently told the Los Angeles Times that he would love to have Justin Timberlake play him in an upcoming biopic about John's life that is still in the planning stages.
The biopic is intended to be a bit different than those that we're already familiar with. Elton John described the project as a "surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge." Obviously, such a style would seem to be in line with John's public persona.
But rather than following John throughout his entire life, he envisions the film as a retrospective that begins and ends with his entry and exit from rehab in 1990. Obviously, Timberlake would be tapped to play John in his younger days, presumably as John ponders his early career and the life that ultimately resulted in his stint in rehab.
John is planning on making an announcement about the film in the very near future, but the project is still in the developmental stages. At this point, there is no script and no casting or production plans have been established. But at this early point in the process, John is already putting out the word that he'd like J.T. to play him in his movie. That's pretty impressive for Timberlake, who has managed to build a fairly impressive film resume in just a few short years in that arena.
