Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Marry

A spokesperson for DeGeneres and de Rossi confirmed the nuptials Saturday and said, "Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married tonight in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles." Nineteen of the couple’s closest friends and family members were on hand to witness the couple exchange vows. DeGeneres’ mother Betty was in attendance as was de Rossi’s mother Margaret Rogers, who flew in from Australia for the wedding. Both DeGeneres and de Rossi wore Zac Posen and reportedly exchanged Neil Lane rings.

DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, met during a photo shoot in March 2004. They met again nine months later at VH1’s "Big in 2004" and began dating. De Rossi moved into DeGeneres’ home in Beverly Hills only a few weeks later and the couple has been together ever since. DeGeneres has said of de Rossi, "She’s taught me lessons about myself and I feel like I’ve taught her. We’ve both changed and grown, and we just feel like, ‘Oh, okay, this is completion.’"

On May 16, 2008 DeGeneres announced to her studio audience that she was going to marry de Rossi following California’s Supreme Courts overturning a law banning gay marriage. De Rossi was in the audience at the time of the announcement and the couple received a standing ovation. DeGeneres said, "It’s something that we’ve wanted to do and we want it to be legal and we are very, very excited." A month later de Rossi was sporting a 3-carat diamond ring which DeGeneres had given her for their upcoming wedding.
