Elisas Hearing Aid

Elisa can read minds, now she has to use this power to good use.
Hi my name is Elisa and I’m partially deaf. I have this hearing monitor that helps me...well. Hear I guess. 1

I always hated being partially deaf because every time someone whispers or even talks quietly I cannot hear them.2

However when I got my hearing aid fitted about two weeks ago everything in my life changed.3

It was a normal day at Rosemary High, we were in double Maths and as usual I was board stiff.4

I had my head in my hands and was messing with a piece of blue tack that I had found in my pocket.5

It was a lovely day outside but the curtains had been pulled so only bits of sunlight could manage to squeeze themselves through the dark green curtains. I just hated the feeling of not being able to move about!6

"What about you Elisa, do you know the answer" Mrs Bay said7

I had not been paying attention at all and had no idea what Mrs Bay was talking about but just then there was a voice inside my head that shouted 8

"Say 43 child!" so I did 9

"Good said my teacher and continued with the lesson10

If that was not weird enough the voice was mrs carols voice!11

When we got dismissed I ran I almost knocked into a year 7. But just then his voice came load and clear into my head "cow" he said. But his lips did not move at all!12

"I beg your pardon" I shouted at him13

The little boy looked startled "er... I didn’t says anything"14

Then I had the weirdest of thoughts. Since I had that hearing aid fitted yesterday I had heard people’s voices in my head. This either meant that I was going mad or that I could read peoples minds.15

The next morning there was an announcement in assembly16

"ms fowlers diamond necklace has been stolen" Mr Presley said in a gruff voice "if the item is not returned by 9 o'clock tomorrow morning there will be big trouble. But I knew he was not thinking about this, he was thinking about his cats!17

When we had Mrs Carroll for French that afternoon I had no trouble answering any of the questions seeing as she gave them to me but there was something else she was thinking about, her necklace. Apparently she had just hidden the necklace and was short on cash and needed the insurance to cover her morgage. I had to try and tell someone before we all got in serious trouble. Then I heard her thinking about the hiding place. It was under the big armchair in the staffroom. So at lunch time I decided that I would sneak in take the necklace put it on Mr Presley’s desk and that would be the end of it.18

I crept down the narrow hallways that lead to the staffroom. I looked through the keyhole and saw about 20 teachers inside. Then I had an even better idea than before. I was going to go inside and say that when bringing a glass of coffee to Mr Hoover, who coincidently was not in the room, I would say that I dropped my pen under the armchair and ask to have a look for it. I would find the necklace and get Ms Carroll in trouble! Genius I thought to myself. I knocked on the door, there was a slight pause and then a faint "come in"19

It was what you would expect in a staffroom, there were papers everywhere, teachers engrossed in conversations and mugs everywhere.20

"I am very sorry for interrupting you" I said in a polite voice but when I came in here earlier to bring in a glass of coffee to Mr Hoover, I dropped my pen under that armchair" I pointed to the one mrs Carroll had described in her thoughts.21

"I was just wondering if I could quickly have a look for it"22

"Ms Carroll jumped up and stood in front of the chair23

"Come back later, you don't need it now" she blurted out24

"yes I do I" said smugly but also in a cute, humble voice, "I have an English writing exam and I don't have another pen" 25

"Of course you can look dear" said Mr King, one of the teachers I liked in the school. 26

"Ms Carroll knew she had been rumbled and made a dash for the arm chair but I was quicker, I ducked underneath her and started poking around until I found what I was looking for27

"What’s this I asked?"28

All the teachers looked towards me, I was holding up the missing necklace!29

"There it is" Ms Carroll said30

I was asked to leave the room after that and I do not know what happened exactly but what I do know was that ms Carroll never came back to teach here ever again.
