Eliminating Failure from Your Life

How not to be one of millions not living up to their potential.
Are you one of the countless millions not living up to your potential? You do not have to stand up and be counted, you know who you are. Being your own worst enemy is a burden we all carry, it’s how we deal with it that makes the difference. Sit down, close your eyes, and start thinking about your life. Think back to the first time someone you loved or admired actually told you that that you should quit dreaming about accomplishing certain things, because with your background it would never happen. Their exact words might have been that we come from working class people and that is how it will always be. They might have even mentioned that you can’t make it in this world because rich people will keep you down and not give you a chance to succeed.

Talk about a losing, defeatist attitude! They should have their mouths washed out with a bar of lye soap for contaminating the mind of someone they supposedly love and care about. The term I like to use to describe individuals like this is dream stealers, because that is exactly what they are doing. I have never understood the motivation behind this type of activity, I only know that it exists. The secret is to re-program your brain, remove the negativity that poisons the spirit, and move forward to bigger and better things. If you want to get to the head of the class, all you have to do is stand up and start walking forward.

A good beginning would be to return to the mindset of your childhood. A simpler time when your biggest problem was to be sure you were home in time for dinner. Free up your mind and let it start to wander, even begin to think about what you want to be when you grow up. Remember, no child ever lied in the grass looking up at the sky thinking about growing up to be a mindless corporate drone trapped in some small cubicle for eternity. They dream about being astronauts, or growing up to save the world. Just because we grow up and have responsibility thrust upon us is no reason to give up on our dreams. Forty years ago, man walked on the moon, forty years before that the country was sliding towards the Great Depression, with soup lines and people in rural areas still using mules and wagons. If you look at the accomplishments of mankind during that first forty year time frame it absolutely boggles the mind. It is the last forty years that are a major disappointment. We were supposed to have flying cars by now, as well as a cure for cancer. What went wrong? People forgot how to dream, plain and simple. Everyone started listening to the dream stealers in their lives, and here we are, living on a polluted hate filled planet with no flying cars and no cure for cancer in sight. Everyone needs to start changing now, while we still remember the way we dreamt the world should be.

Think larger than life by following my recipe for success, it involves focusing on one number. The number for your odyssey to a brighter future is one million. It can mean one million dollars in income, one million people helped by a product you have developed, or one million people served by a charity that you chair. A project this big requires dedication, determination, audacity and faith. The question for you is not if you can do it, but how long it will take to get it done. True joy can never be experienced by hiding from your dreams, embrace them as you move forward and live life to the fullest. If not for yourself, then do it for all the people you could help. Think of all the lives you could touch during this journey of self fulfillment. The one certainty is that we all have a lot of people to prove wrong and today is as good a day as any to get started. Remember, for every person hoping to see you fail, there are ten pulling for you to succeed.
