Elementals - Part 5
Well Lilly's mom has some news and she goes to Ash to escape, however Ash has some theories of his own that only end up upsetting Lilly further.
Chapter 5
I lay in my bed its 3 in the afternoon the next day and I have my eyes closed. My mom is staring intently at all three of us. Alex is jumping up and down excitedly and Lisa is staring at mom in disbelief.
"Well?" Mom asks expectantly and happy.
"Yay! Yay! Yay!" Alex says and hugs mom. It truly is amazing how quickly your life changes with one sentence.
"So you've known him how long?" Lisa asks annoyed.
"A month, but you guys this is the one I just know it."
"Yeah, well," I say sitting up and looking at her. "You thought dad was the one too, and look how well that turned out." My moms face was hurt and a little angry but I was to mad to tell.
"You guys Joe is a great guy you have no idea-" Lisa cut mom off.
"Yeah your right we don't have an idea we've never met him and now you want him to move in!"
"And marry him!" I joined in.
Mom sighed. "Listen just because I decided to include you all in this decision doesn't mean I'm going to let you ruin my relationship with Joe because your too selfish to share me."
"SELFISH?" Lisa and I yelled at the same time then we gave a knowing look to each other. When we got like this it was hard to stop us because when our brains are so connected that we think the same things we make an unstoppable argument.
"Mom, don't you think you're the one being selfish here? You pushing this guy onto us and we only know his name." I said harshly.
"Not that we don't want you to be happy, but shouldn't your happiness come from our happiness as well?" Lisa asked.
"Not all of your happiness should come from us, of course but-" I started.
"But we think we should get to know him better first." Lisa finished for me.
"You will get to know him, when he lives here. It's been decided. Alex? Would you like to go with mommy to pick up Joe and his things?" Mom asked Alex.
"Yay!" Alex said and jumped into moms arms and they left the room and went to go pick up Joe.
"I cannot believe this is happening!" Lisa yelled stomping out of my room.
"Me either." I mumbled to myself and picked up my phone.
Hey Ash wanna meet somewhere...I need to get out of this house.
Not long after came the reply:
Sure, where do you wanna meet?
I replied: Not sure and don't care you pick and I'll meet you anywhere right now.
A few minutes later he said k. meet me at the ice cream shop 2 miles outta town.
I furrowed my brow in confusion and typed You know that's closed...right?
Well of course I know that! Its October meet me there anyway. was his reply
Okayy Then I fixed my hair and make up and grabbed my keys. "Hey Lis? I'm going out to blow off some steam, ill be back whenever!" I heard a mumbled 'kay...' and I left.
"Hey" Ash smiled at me.
"Hi." I said wiping the tears from my eyes from driving. I cry when I'm angry and its kind of embarrassing. Ash immediately hugged me and held me. Which normally would be overstepping boundaries considering we met only yesterday but we did spend the whole night talking and I was having a bad day so nothing mattered.
"What's wrong lilly?" he asked very concerned.
"I'm so pissed!" I yelled and stepped back. "and I cry when I'm angry which is pissing me off even more!" I said angrily. And then he just started laughing so I glared at him and said icily "what's so funny?"
Between laughs he managed "Lilly the one...and only...girl who...cries when...shes...mad!" then he laughed harder and through his tears said "Lilly, I'm sorry, I broke your favorite purse" I glared and said
"I don't have a favorite purse." But he persisted.
"Oh My GOD!" Ash mimicked me starting to cry. "I hate you! I hate you!....Lilly calm down you don't have to cry over it don't be sad it's just a purse...I'm Pissed...and" He had to stop because he was laughing so hard. I fought not to crack a smile. "And I cry when I'm Pissed God damn you all!" Then he mimicked me stomping off angrily." He burst out laughing again full on crying from laughter and I joined him laughing.
"OW! Ow, ow!" I yelled laughing.
"What?" He asked slowly stopping his laughter.
"My sides hurt from laughing." I said and that made Ash start laughing harder.
After a whole 2 minutes more we finally stopped and were down to just giggles.
"I cannot believe you!" I said trying to be angry and failing.
"What?"
"I am so mad!"
"No you're not...you know how I can tell?" He didn't wait for a reply. "you're not crying!" he laughed some more and I giggled.
"No I'm mad that you made me be in a good mood!" I yelled smiling.
"Oh, damn you ash! I am so angry that I am happy Lilly says as she balls her eyes out." We both giggled.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"For...?"
"For making me laugh."
"No problem, it's what I do." He shrugged and smiled.
"So why the closed Ice cream shop then?" I asked confused and finally done laughing.
"Guaranteed parking spaces, of course!" he lied with over enthusiasm."
"No, seriously?" I asked truly curious.
"Because," he said very serious now. "I wanted to tell you more about me and learn about you."
"And we couldn't do this in a public place because...?" I asked curious and a little annoyed from being cold.
"Because too many people listen in on things they can't know...here we aren't at risk of that."
"What are you talking about?" I looked at him in confusion.
"Ever notice, how sometimes the weather just seems to fit with your mood?" He asked hopping up on the trunk of his car and pulling me up with him. He looked up at the sky so I did too.
"Not really..." I trailed off not sure where he was going with this.
"Well it does for certain people, not for me. But I think it does for you." He looked me in the eyes. I stared back noticing how the red in them seemed brighter today.
"Go on ash..."
"Well like when you were driving here it was raining and when you started laughing the weather got sunny..."
"Are you trying to say I can change the weather?" I asked in disbelief.
"I am saying you are gifted in the element of Earth and you should come back with me to my high school right away so-"
"I cannot believe you!" I shouted angrily. "Last night you were all about how I liked fantasy and what if it came true and everything. And now I know you were finding all that out to use it against me." I glared sadly at him. He tried to object but I kept going. "So now your making this up so you can play some cruel trick on me? This is unbelievable, and to think I actually liked you!" I shouted
"You liked me?" He asked his eyes were sad and happy at the same time.
"Yeah..I did...past tense now. I really can't believe you. See this, this right here, is why I don't trust anyone ever! Especially guys because your trust and confidence in them just comes back to bite you in the ass!" I said hopping off the trunk of his car and getting into mine.
"Wait!" he yelled as I started my car. "I am completely serious you have absolutely no idea! I can control fire I swear!" he yelled as I backed out.
"Yeah right, just like I can control weather and I'm sure other people control air and water too!" I said sarcastically.
"Yes!" he yelled exasperated. "and spirit!"
I glared out my window. "Just leave me alone, you've ruined my day enough already." I said and drove way too fast home, crying. Not because I was mad but because I was absolutely devastated.
I walked in the house, eyes dry.
"Lilly there you are so glad to meet you! How about a hug?" A guy I guess was Joe asked the instant I walked in. I smiled a fake smile.
"Sure!" I said faking excitement and got on my tiptoes so I could whisper in his ear. "I don't know you well enough to hate you, but if I decide you are not worthy of my mom, you'll know it because I will make your life a living hell." Then I pulled away smiling. "So nice to have you join us in our home" I walked into my room and Joe just sat down with a confused look on his face.
