Electronic Pest Control Devices
From time to time, different types of pests invade our houses and create problems for us, prompting us to take measures to control them. To know more about electronic pest control devices, read on...

Types of Modern Pest Control
- Ultrasonic Waves: Ultrasonic pest control machines emit ultrasonic sound waves which irritate the pests so much that they leave your house. Manufacturers of these products are claiming that the ultrasonic waves emitted does not harm humans or pets. These devices can drive rats, bats, squirrels, rodent and spiders away from your home. The frequency of the sound waves emitted by these devices can be changed automatically or manually so that the pests don't get used to it.
- Electromagnetic Waves: These devices manipulate the wavelength of the frequency signals present in the electrical wiring and thus claim to manipulate electromagnetic field inside the house, which irritate the pests and make them leave your house.
- Ultraviolet Rays: These devices are primarily used against flying insects. They are used in combination with the chemical trap using pheromone to deal with fruit flies and drain flies. UV rays and pheromone attract these insects towards a sticky pad, which traps them.
Problems Caused by Pests
Pests like rodents can spread diseases wherever they live. Following is a list of diseases:
- Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is quite a deadly disease transmitted by rodents through urine, droppings, or saliva. Humans can contract the disease through the air. Patients suffering from this disease are found throughout the United States.
- Rat fleas transmit Murine typhus to humans. Rats infested with flea can be found in the tropics as well as in temperate regions during the summer. Individuals staying in rat-infested dwellings, in harbors or close to rivers, are at risk of contracting murine typhus.
- A rodent bite, a scratch or eating food or water contaminated with rat feces can transmit, rat fever causing bacteria Streptobacillus moniliformis to humans.
- Leptospirosis is another disease which is transmitted by rats to humans.
- Bird flu and swine flu.
Modern pest control apparatus have been around since a long time however, these products haven't fully satisfied the customers. Some customers have categorically stated in reviews that they have witnessed a drop in the number of mice and other pests after they started using such products. On the other hand, scientists who tested these products and their effects on animals have stated that they are not effective. It is an established fact that pests and household pets are tuned to the same frequencies of sound. Their reasoning was, if pests get affected because of this devices, then the devices must be affecting the other animals as well. The state of Texas has banned a firm from selling subsonic emitters which according to the manufacturer's claim are better than ultraviolet pest control devices, within its jurisdiction.
