Eleanor Roosevelt (11th October 1884 – 7th November 1962) was born in New York City to Elliot Roosevelt and Anna Hall Roosevelt. She had two brothers along with a half brother. Her mother nicknamed Eleanor as ‘Granny’ and Eleanor always saw her father struggle with alcoholism. She was constantly made to feel she was ugly which probably led to her insecurity. This was the time when she was craving for affection. She also had very few friends. The only friends she probably had were the ones from school. At the age of 15, Eleanor was given private training by a very noted personality named Marie Souvestre who honed young Eleanor’s mind.
