Eighteen Years

It's about a soldier who cannot take the memories of what has happened.
The war might be
Over but in his mind
He has to survive
He wants to not care
He wants to be free /
Eighteen years of his
Fathers abuse, memories
Haunt him of now much worse/

Women and children murdered
In their beds, husbands made
To watch as their wives suffer
Their children hung/ eighteen years
Of his fathers abuse couldn't prepare
For these memories that haunt him
Are now much worse/ no water

No food shrapnel flying wake up
It was all a nightmare of what
Horrors went through on that
Bloody battlefield/ eighteen years
Of his fathers abuse didn't prepare him
For any of this. He bows his
Head on the barrel weeps for his god
To forgive what was done
