Yes to gain success there are many things that an individual needs to do at a time and it becomes really hectic sometimes to manage the twenty-four hours in a day to complete all the work that we have and complete it efficiently. There are many of us who work a well as study so managing time for work, study, friends and family becomes difficult. Similarly people who only work have such tremendous work pressure that managing and completing it within the stipulated time seems impossible, so time management is a necessity in today’s busy world where everybody has to juggle with a number of things everyday, where the person who does more than what is required of him succeeds. So here we would discuss about some helpful tips that would help in the effective time management and that would lead to success.
Tips for Effective Time Management
Prioritization or making a list of priorities is the first step towards effective time management. It makes us see that there are many non-important things that we waste our time on and there are many important things that are consequently neglected like family, hobbies and things that we need to do for mental health. There are many people who keep mental health at bay and think only about their work or business but apart from work, important meetings and deadlines there are other things also that would make life more interesting and worth living for. So when you are making your priority list do keep some time in the day for your family, then moving to other things based on how urgent they are and how much time each is going to take. So when you are doing this you would know which project you must finish first or which presentation you must submit first, depending upon that divide your time. Do not try to do things that you can avoid and let your junior take some responsibility, which would also help you to save time.
Procrastination is a major setback in effective time management and holds you back for simple things which if you start would be finished within a few hours. So do not procrastinate, do whatever is required of you within the minimum time. Do not waste time in talking over the phone or musing over the problem because contemplating would not help. The only thing that would help is planning and implementing without delaying and without letting anything interrupt you. There are specific reasons when we procrastinate work, it is because there is some complication which needs to be resolved when doing it, so think about the process that you would follow and start doing it. Be result oriented and try to meet your deadlines since that would positively encourage you to try and put in efforts for more work and more success. Promise yourself a reward whenever you do something that is worth it.
Set Goals for yourself which should be short-term so that the moment you miss your first goal you can pull up your socks and start putting in more efforts to complete your next goal and the previous one within the time set for both because of you lag behind by an hour for one goal, you would keep on lagging behind and it has to be managed in some part of your schedule. To help you with this you can prepare a list of things that you need to do on that particular day and then a list for the week. Once you have done the listing you would be able to understand the number of tasks that you have and the way to find time for each one of them.
These are some of the tips that you can use for effective time management but all these would only bear fruit if you work and not just while away your time under the impression that you are working. When you start a work and then realize that it was not that important, do not leave it half way since that would convert the time that you have already spent on it into wasted time which is certainly not advisable. It is always better to finish off work and not leave them undone be it very important or non-important because what is not very important today would become very important and would have an "urgent" flag attached to it tomorrow or day after.
