Eddie Murphy Submits to Paternity Test

Murphy briefly dated former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, 32, last year and their relationship may or may not have produced a daughter. Brown has insisted that Murphy is the father since she announced her pregnancy. In December, Murphy said during an interview, "I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test." Brown said she was shocked that he could even suggest that he was not the father and last month announced that he refused to take a paternity test. She also said she was planning on taking him to court if he did not voluntarily take the test.

Murphy reportedly submitted to the test at a Beverly Hills medical facility on Monday. A source said, "Eddie came in half an hour after Mel B. and the baby. They didn’t want to run into each other." Murphy’s current girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, said in an interview in March, "There’ll be a paternity test and it it’s [Eddie’s] then he’ll be responsible." His reps have said, "We do not comment on Mr. Murphy’s personal life."

Angel Iris Murphy Brown was born on April 3, Murphy’s birthday. Brown said of Murphy, "He hasn’t seen his daughter. My people have contacted his people and they just had no response to anything." Brown also has an 8-year old daughter, Phoenix Chi, with her ex-husband, Jimmy Gulzar. The results of the paternity test will reportedly take between five days and three weeks. It will be interesting to see the results.
