Easy

I wrote this April 23, 2004 to express the feelings I had with friends and family (mostly family) trying to stomp all over my new found sense of self.
Standing on the sidelines, it is easy to judge
You do nothing yet you criticize me for my attempts
If you’re so smart then why do you not try to do what I do?
It is easy to criticize someone else, standing in your glass house,
So you can have a moment of self-righteousness
You ooze poison from every pore
Your whole being screams contempt
Attempting to drag everyone down to your low level of nothingness
Negative, critical, belittling: tearing down what others build
Why build yourself when building takes effort?
Satisfied with a job well done, you crawl back into your cave
Surrounded by the darkness you love so much
Meanwhile the world moves forward without you
You’re missing it!
Afraid to move forward, afraid to look backward
Afraid to look inward, afraid of yourself
You stand like a deer in the headlights
Waiting to be run down, again and again
Never ending road kill on the highway of life.
