- Lastly, you should apply a thick coat of oil and let it set for a couple of hours.
- Your easy cutting or chopping board is ready! You can use it right away.
If you have learned making wooden toys, now why not try making a wooden toy box to store the toys? It is also easy to make and can be made in a short period of time. Once you learn the method of making this box, you can make another one for storing other articles.
Things Required
- Plywood / hardwood sheets
- Screws
- Hammer
- Saw
- Safety hinges
- Handle for the box
- Measuring tape
- Wood putty
- Sandpaper
- Safety glasses
- As mentioned above, safety glasses or goggles need to be used to prevent particles of wood from entering your eyes.
- Using a measuring tape, make markings on the plywood according to your required length and breadth of the box.
- If it is a rectangular box, then you need to have larger pieces for the top, bottom, front, and back. If a square one, all pieces can be made of the same sizes.
- Now cut the plywood on the markings using the saw.
- Next, lay the bottom board flat on the floor. Hold the front piece and nail a 2 inch screw into it. You might require a partner for this.
- You need to follow the same procedure to fix the back piece in place.
- The side pieces are also fixed with the same procedure. But you will also need extra screws to nail the side pieces to the front and the back piece.
- Attach a handle to the top of the box, from the outer side. Next, attach the safety hinges to the top and the back of the box.
- Lastly, fill the holes in the box with wood putty. Sand the box to smoothen it.
- Your wooden toy box is now ready to be put to use. You can paint it to make it look attractive!
