Easy Way to Clean Your Pool after the Pool Cover has Fallen in
Nobody wants to get their pools dirty, which is why responsible pool owners take winterizing their swimming pools seriously. Accidents however, do happen. No matter how much we try to avoid it, we can never tell when it will actually occur. When it does happen - your swimming pool cover falls into your pool, here are a few ways to make cleaning it easier:
1. Do not remove the pool cover just yet. Whatever debris has accumulated on it will completely sink into the pool if you do. Scoop away all those debris with a leaf rake and dump it in a container that has holes to allow water to drain. Remember to place it in a position where the dirty water that drains from it cannot crawl back into the pool. After that is done, the pool cover can then be removed.
2. Check your swimming pool cover for damages that may require it to be repaired or replaced. Clean it, let it dry, and then keep it in storage for the summer.
3. Now for the pool: try to see how dirty the pool has become in order to determine how you will proceed with cleaning it.
a. If the dirt is primarily small, these can easily be vacuumed out with a pool cleaner. Save your filter from having to deal with this.
b. For larger debris however, you can completely drain the pool, clean it, then refill it or, if draining is not an option, clean the whole thing without removing the water. Note that you would also have to clean the water itself in the second option. You first need to scoop out as much debris under the water as possible then let the filter clear the water. Add all necessary chemicals that will kill various dirt and microorganisms in the water.
This is should be the easy way to clean pools, but it is still quite difficult and time consuming. Just make sure that your pool cover is well secured to avoid having to go through with this.
