Easy Pancake Recipe Without Milk

Simple Pancakes
The delicious pancakes originated in England in 1430. Gradually the recipe of pancake spread across the world to Asia, Africa, Australia and the US and wherever it went, it became the favorite dish of many. People of course added some of their own special ingredients and modified the pancakes and made it even better. Today they are called by different names such as Dosa/Appam/Uttapam/Neer Dosa in India, Apom Balik, in Malaysia and in Singapore, Chataamari, in Nepal, Jeon/Pajeon, in Korea, Hotcakes/griddle cakes/flapjacks in USA and Canada, and so on. But whatever the case is, when we first hear the term pancake, the picture that comes to our mind is that of a stack of pancakes on a plate, with maple syrup (lots of it), or honey, ready to be eaten. The main three ingredients for pancakes are flour, eggs and milk. But for those, who cannot take in milk or milk products, here is an easy recipe.
Ingredients
- Plain flour, 2 cups
- Oil/butter/margarine, 2 tablespoons
- Salt, ½ teaspoon or as per taste
- Baking powder, 4 teaspoons
- Sugar, 2 tablespoons
- Water, 2 cups
- Eggs, 2
- While learning how to make easy pancakes without milk, the first step is that in a large bowl, you have to mix all the main ingredients i.e. eggs, water and oil or butter properly.
- Then in another mixing bowl you have to mix the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder.
- Now mix the two and keep stirring till it forms a thick batter and till all the ingredients have mixed properly.
- Now leave the batter aside for at least 5 to 10 minutes for it to rise.
- In the meantime, preheat the skillet that you will use to make the pancakes.
- Now, using a ladle or a spoon, scoop some of the batter and on the hot skillet and heat it till bubbles start appearing.
- Heat this side for about 2 minutes and then very carefully, using a flay sided spoon or ladle, flip the pancake so that you can heat the other side too.
- Again cook this side for around 2 minutes or till it is well done and then put it on a plate.
- Repeat the same thing with the rest of the batter and finally when the pancakes are ready, serve them hot, oh and don't forget to add the maple syrup on top while serving!
Blueberry Pancakes
If you love the taste of blueberries in jams and jellies and if you love to have pancakes, then why not combine them both and have your own blueberry pancake, that too without milk!
Ingredients
- Plain flour, 2 cups
- Baking powder, 3 teaspoons
- Water, 5 cups
- White sugar, 6 table spoons or as per taste
- Salt, ½ teaspoon or as per taste
- Butter/margarine/oil, 3 tablespoons
- Fresh or frozen blueberries, 1 cup
- In a bowl, first you have to mix the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder properly.
- Put the blueberries in this mixture and mix them.
- Now in another bowl, mix the water and eggs and then put the two mixtures together and form a thick batter.
- Keep stirring till all the ingredients mix thoroughly.
- Preheat the skillet, in which you will make the pancakes.
- Scoop out some of the batter and put it in the skillet and heat it over a medium flame.
- Heat one side, for at least 2 minutes or till well done.
- Next, carefully, using the flat spoon, flip over the pancake so that you can heat the other side.
- Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the batter.
- Once they are done, serve them hot with either maple syrup or honey and enjoy.
