Easy Pancake Recipe from Scratch
Pancakes from scratch are beloved breakfast dish of my family. As we eat pancakes really often, specially during the Saturday mornings, I know that the basic pancake recipe can get boring fast. Luckily, there are so many ways to dress your homemade pancakes. Here I will show you, how I make my pancakes from scratch and I will also present my favorite pancake ideas.
Many of us, do not even realize that making pancakes from scratch is so easy. Moreover when you prepare your own homemade pancakes, you are able to make them more delicious and nutritious.
To make your pancakes from scratch more delicious, try to be creative and add some good things to them. For example stuff pancakes with strawberry sauce, powdered sugar and mint. Or while preparing the pancakes, add some chopped blueberries or raspberries and chocolate chips. You can also place blueberries on the top of cooked pancakes.
Some other time, top your pancakes with some chopped nuts and bananas, and add desired syrup, if you like a lot of sugary things on your pancakes. If you want to make a change and try thin pancakes from scratch (crepes), I strongly recommend to roll and fill them with nuts, fruit or cream cheese.

Ingredients:
- Wet Ingredients
- 1.5 cups of buttermilk
- 2 Teaspoons vanilla
- 1 egg
- 3 Tablespoons melted butter - use microwave
- 1 cup white flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- In one bowl, whisk lightly wet ingredients.
- In the other bowl, whisk lightly dry ingredients.
- Add roughly half of the dry mix into the wet and whisk smooth.
- Add the remaining dry mix and whisk together. Don’t beat the batter too much because it strengthens the gluten in the flour and makes the pancakes tougher.
- Let the batter rest for 20 minutes.
- Take a non-stick pan. Heat it over medium heat and spread a teaspoon of the vegetable oil on the bottom. When hot, pour in ¼ cup of batter.
- Cook the pancake on one side for few minutes or until when it is golden brown. Then turn it around with spatula and cook until golden brown.
- Serve warm and with desired topping.
