An Easy to Operate Franchise for Moms Who Would Stay at Home if They Could
If you are a stay at home mom, this may be the path for you.
---Part I---
Being a stay at home mom definitely has its benefits. More bonding time with children, more energy for children, more time to think about family activities, and more time for volunteer activities are all great reasons for a mom to consider the "stay-at-home experience." Many stay-at-home moms also agree that they learn new and interesting things about themselves when they become full-time moms.
What do Good Husbands Really Think about Stay-at-Home Moms?
Even a large amount of husbands agree that they like their wives to stay at home with their children. Nope. These guys are NOT chauvinistic. On the contrary, many of these husbands chose to marry women who are very capable of obtaining and maintaining high-class careers. So what is it that they like about women who stay at home? Don’t they miss the extra income?
I spoke with a male co-worker of mine (let’s call him Jason) whose wife has recently made the transition from a full-time employee of a clothing business to being a full-time mom. Jason had mentioned the transition to me months ago while we were at work and I knew that he felt their lives were better because of her decision to stay home.
I wanted more specific details though so I called him and asked him what he likes about the way things are now vs. the way things were before his wife (let’s call her Sandra) became a stay-at-home mom. His reasons included the following2:
1) Sandra has lots of time to bond with the kids. She used to bond with them before but not to the degree that she does now.
2) Our oldest son asks for Sandra now instead of for me when he has a nightmare. He seems to have less of a tendency to be shy now and he isn’t embarrassed to have Sandra take him to school (he was embarrassed in the past).
3) I like how Sandra knows where everything in the house is now. She knows what is going on and she keeps our house in tip-top shape. She lets me know if I need to pick up groceries ahead of time.
4) We don’t have to juggle our work schedules now. There is less stress—at least in that area of our life.
I think that Jason’s observations make a good case for trying out the "stay-at-home mom thing." Maybe you think so too, but maybe you also know that your financial situation is just too precarious to quit your job right now. If that is the case and you would prefer to be at home, then consider another option. Consider investing in an easy to operate franchise.
An Easy To Operate Franchise: Get the Details
An easy to operate franchise is not a quick fix solution that will make all your wildest dreams come true, but an easy to operate franchise can be a way to increase your income and spend more time at home with your children! I like to think of an easy to operate franchise as a business in a box. Someone has already done the entrepreneurial work, the brand work, the marketing/advertising, and then there it is right there…….the business in a box that needs the right franchisee to open it. Sound easy? Don’t rush ahead. There are still lots of "franchise factors" that you must take into consideration when you are looking into running even an easy to operate franchise.
Easy to Operate Franchise Essentials
You will of course want to look for a franchise which factors in your interests and abilities. However, there are a few basic easy to operate franchise essentials that every stay at home mom should look for, especially is she wants to have even more time with her kids at home:
As you can see, if you find the right easy to operate franchise, you could be working with a business that almost takes care of itself! Remember though, you have to do plenty of research and the initial get-up-and-go work to get your franchise running smoothly. It won’t necessarily be easy but if you keep your goal of having more time with your kids in mind, then it might be the right choice for you to make.
In Part II (and possibly part III) of An Easy to Operate Franchise for Moms Who Would Stay at Home if They Could, you will learn how to find a franchise that best fits your interests, how to keep records of your franchise that will help you and others survive the first-time franchise experience, and you will also learn the right questions to ask potential franchisors.
Happy Franchising!

You will of course want to look for a franchise which factors in your interests and abilities. However, there are a few basic easy to operate franchise essentials that every stay at home mom should look for, especially is she wants to have even more time with her kids at home:
- A turn-key operation (basically a business that is ready to run when you open the door).
- A business that doesn’t require a large staff (Less employees can equal less headaches).
- Simple products that you are comfortable with (you don’t want to invest in an automotive franchise unless you are familiar with the products and services that you will be providing—you want to choose a business that interests you).
- A franchisor that offers the training you will need to run the business.
- A mobile franchise (this suggestion is actually optional but a mobile franchise can be great for taking advantage of more than one location).
- A franchise that is an inexpensive franchise opportunity (most women don’t have $1 million to invest in a franchise, so look for something inexpensive, yet profitable).
- A franchisor that does your marketing and advertising for you.
- A franchisor that has a recognized brand name, especially in their place of origin.
- A franchisor with a loyal customer base.
- A franchisor that has a good record with the Better Business Bureau.
As you can see, if you find the right easy to operate franchise, you could be working with a business that almost takes care of itself!
