Easy Homemade Banana Pudding Recipes
Banana pudding is a versatile dessert in its own right. Here are some banana pudding recipes; and they will surely add some variety to the way you prepare pudding recipes at home.

Home-Style Banana Pudding
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4 bananas, ripe but firm
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- 3 cups milk, low fat or whole
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- sweetened whipped cream or whipped topping
- vanilla wafer cookies
- banana slices for garnish
- mint sprigs, (optional)
Take a bowl, combine the sugar, flour, salt; stir well and blend. Slowly stir in milk until smooth. Pour into the top of double boiler over simmering water. Cook, whisking frequently, until the mixture begins to thicken. In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks; gradually whisk in about 1 cup of a bit thickened hot milk mixture. Return egg mixture to the double boiler, stir in the vanilla and butter, and continue whisking and cooking until its thickened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Take tall dessert glasses or 2-quart serving dish, place a layer of sliced banana over vanilla wafers. Spoon some of the pudding over the banana layer and alternate the layers with more vanilla wafers and banana slices. Serve with whipped cream topping. In case of short dessert dish, use only one layer each of the wafers, banana slices, and pudding and then top with a dollop of whipped cream. Garnish each serving with a few slices of banana and mint sprig.
Layered Banana Pudding Dessert
A layered banana pudding dessert recipe with vanilla wafers, vanilla pudding, bananas, strawberry gelatin, and whipped topping.
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe but firm bananas
- 1 package (3 ounce) vanilla pudding mix (cook and serve)
- 1 cup vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
- 1 cup whipped topping or sweetened whipped cream
- 1 package (3 ounce) strawberry-flavored gelatin powder
Take an 8 x 8 inch square pan, grease it with butter and spread half of crushed wafers. Prepare the pudding mix and pour hot pudding over the crumbs. Cut one banana into slices and arrange over pudding, and give a layer on top with remaining crumbs. Cool for 1 hour. Prepare gelatin and cool for 30 minutes until partially set. Pour this mixture over crumbs. Slice the remaining banana and give a layer over gelatin. Spread whipped cream as topping all over. Chill this dessert for 2 hours before serving.
Banana Pudding with Graham Crackers
Ingredients:
- 2 - 3 bananas sliced
- 2 cups milk
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 15 graham crackers, crushed
- 1/4 cup sugar
Take a bowl, add egg yolks and beat well, then add 2/3 cup sugar and cornstarch and mix well. Now, add milk and cook over low heat or in top of double boiler until creamy, and keep stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Grease butter to the baking dish and place layers of sliced bananas and graham crackers. Add the vanilla custard. In a bowl, beat egg whites until stiff, add ¼ cup sugar and mix well. Now spread this meringue over the custard and bake at 350ºF for about 10 minutes, until brown.
Banana Cream Cheese Pudding
Ingredients:
- 6-7 bananas
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- Vanilla wafers
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 1 lg. instant vanilla pudding
- 1 can milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 small cool whip
In a bowl, mix cream cheese and milk. In another bowl mix vanilla, milk and vanilla pudding. Mix with cream cheese mixture, stir well and slowly mix in cool whip. Finally, set a layer of bananas and vanilla wafers.
Banana and Honey Puddings
Ingredients:
- 200g bananas, roughly mashed
- 100g butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 100g caster sugar
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg or to taste
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp walnuts, roughly chopped
- 160g self-raising flour, sifted
- Extra honey and walnuts
- Foil and string
In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until smooth mixture, about 5 minutes. Beat in the bananas, nutmeg, vanilla, then slowly add the eggs, beating well (don't worry if the mixture curdles). Fold in flour until you have a thick batter.
Now, lightly butter four small oven proof ramekins or dariole molds of 150 ml and spoon a tablespoon of honey into the base of each. Finally, add batter until molds are three-quarters full, cover bath with buttered foil and tie with string. Steam for 30 minutes or until springy on top.
To Serve:
Turn out onto four warmed serving plates, dampen with a little extra honey and scatter with walnuts.
