Easy Home Decorating Tips - Combining Cohesiveness With Your Style

Decorating with your own personal style and maintaining cohesiveness can be difficult. But if you employ the expert use of color matching and color grouping, you can make a stylish room that suits your every whim.
When you’re trying to decorate your home, the worst thing you can is scatter everything around in a crude manner. It will leave you and your guests feeling out of balance every time you walk into the room, not to mention the terrible Feng Shui that will befall your home. The hardest part of decorating is to combine a sense of cohesiveness with your own personal style and make it truly work.

In the past, I’ve had problems with this particular feat. I wanted to put certain décor around my living room but also keep the same couches, curtains and pictures on the wall. I had little knick knacks from all over the world and it was a fashion disaster. But I finally broke down and read on the internet that there were plenty of ways to bring cohesiveness to a personally styled room without getting rid of things and without spending a lot of cash.

One of the best ways to bring all of the elements of your room together, no matter how many elements there are, is to invest in area rugs. But not just any area rug. You should take the time to survey your room and decide which colors are most prominent. In my case, light greens and mixed blues were the most heavily used colors in my furniture, knick knacks, wall hangings and art. This made it easy to choose blue area rugs that complemented each portion of the room and made it reflect both my style and a true sense of fashion and classy taste.

The blues and greens in the contemporary area rugs I chose brought out and mixed together the blues and greens in the room and now no one can tell whether all of the items belong or not. This is exactly the creation I set out for when I started decorating my home.

But decorating isn’t all about making colors match. It’s about learning whether colors should be together or should be left separate. Have you ever looked at two rooms in your home and felt that each of them was slightly odd? Try moving half of your living room into your den and half of your den into your living room. If that’s too bold for you, try deciding whether one certain piece matches your living room better than it matches your den. Part of decorating with your own style is learning where to put your personality so it matches the items around it.

When you’re decorating, you shouldn’t feel like you have to be conservative. Putting together denim and chiffon is a perfect way to add flair to your room if flair is part of your style. Just make sure the chiffon matches the general feel, color and layout of the room and you can make snazzy curtains or throw pillows to perfect your style.

Remember, decorating with your own personal style can be difficult but if you blend your style with cohesiveness, your room will be a winner every time.
