You may have to use a few bobby pins to hold your hair, if your hair is cut in layers. Once the coiling is completed, tuck the ends of your hair underneath the ponytail and secure it with a hair pin. This is more of a formal hairstyle for office wear, so make sure your dress compliments it too.

For Short Hair
Short hair is slightly difficult to manage for an updo, because it barely fits in your hands. For a short hair updo, you may need some help. Begin with shampooing and conditioning your hair. Towel dry them and apply a little bit of styling gel to hold them in place. Prevent blow drying, as it will add volume and worsen your problem. Tie your hair in a pony tail at very low level. If your hair is cut in layers, they will come out from places, so secure them with a hair band. Pin up the ponytail inwards at the end, so that it resembles a bun.
