Easy Guide to Using Reverse Phone Listings

If you've ever seen a phone number on your caller ID or cell phone that you didn't quite recognized, you were probably left wishing for a way of finding out who that person is. That's where reverse phone listings, now easily accessed on the Internet, come in handy.
Reverse phone listings are just what they sound like. Whereas the traditional method of using a directory is to look up a person's name and find the phone number, reverse phone listings do this in reverse. You start with the number and find out who owns it and where they live. Fortunately, the Internet has made this a lot easier than it could have been done with paper directories.

You can find reverse phone listings several places on the Internet. In fact, all you need to do is go to Google, Yahoo or Bing and type in the search term, "reverse phone listings, " and you'll find several. Some are free services, and other, more extensive ones charge a small fee.

Once you go to the site, find the search field that asks for a phone number, and type it in. Be sure to use the area code, but not the "1" before it.

After this, the system searches for all information connected to that phone number. If there are results it will tell you the name of the person or organization which owns the line, a location, and whether it's a cell phone or land line (If this last point really matters to you, keep in mind that technology now allows people to switch a home number to a cell phone, so while it's likely that if a listing says land line, it really is, it's not always guaranteed.).

A couple of good free sites exist, and a few paid sites exist as well, offering a few more details for a little bit of money. They easily let you search phone numbers at no cost. You can search people by their phone number or by their name, as in standard phone books. However, as with most things, remember that you'll likely get more thorough results with one of the paid services. Reverse Phone Listings.
