Honey-Mustard Grilled Salmon Fillet

Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, drained
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 2 pound fillet salmon, skin on
  • 2 tablespoons aged sherry vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 bunch watercress, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small red onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper, for taste
Directions

In a bowl, whisk in the mustard, horseradish, honey, mint, salt, and black pepper. Leave it to mix for about 15 minutes before you use it. Brush some oil over the salmon and season with salt and black pepper. Keeping the skin side facing down, place the salmon fillets on the grill, and cook for about 3 minutes or till the fish turns golden brown. As the salmon is cooking, take a bowl to mix in the watercress and onion in it. Then pour in vinegar, oil, and some more salt and black pepper. Mix everything together and place the salad on a serving platter. Take the salmon fillets and place on top of the salad. Before serving, pour the honey-mustard sauce on top.

Oven Grilled Salmon Asian-style

Ingredients
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1, 3 lb side fresh salmon, boned, skin on
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
Directions

Preheat the oven at 450ºF. On the cutting board, place the salmon skin side down and cut crisscross pieces, about 4 pieces. In a bowl, whisk together mustard, soy sauce, olive oil, and garlic together. Now, marinate the salmon pieces in it and let it sit for half an hour. Grease a broiler pan with some cooking spray and place the salmon in it. Bake for about 10-12 minutes and turn the oven to broil. Cook the fish for about 5 more minutes. Once the salmon is cooked, serve with some boiled white rice.

Miso-Ginger Grilled Salmon

Ingredients
  • ¼ cup white miso
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 1, ½ tablespoons ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, minced
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 4 salmon fillets, 8 ounces each
  • Salt and black pepper, for taste
  • Yuzu juice, for drizzling

Before we start grilling the fish, take a bowl to whisk together miso, mirin, soy sauce, vinegar, minced green onions, minced ginger, and sesame oil. Take a baking dish, place the salmon in it, and pour the marinade on all sides. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place in the refrigerator. Heat the grill till the salmon is in the refrigerator. Take the fish out of the marinade and sprinkle some salt and pepper on top. Place the skin side down over the grill. Let the fish turn golden brown which will take about 3-4 minutes. Grill the other side as well. Now drizzle some yuzu juice over the fish and serve hot.

Just a few pointers to get perfect, simple grilled salmon, always sprinkle salt right before grilling or cooking salmon. If done before, the fish will start losing its juices and flavors.
