Detox Diet
As the name suggests, this type of diet focuses more on eating detox foods and detox drinks. Following a detoxification diet means staying away from certain foods. Alcohol and coffee can hinder the detoxification process and so have to be avoided. To be more specific, one should concentrate more on consuming fresh vegetables and fruits. Detoxifying the body also involves drinking plenty of fluids ( 8 -10 glasses a day) in the form of water and vegetable and fruit juices.

3 Day Detox Diet
Although, this body cleansing diet can be followed in different ways such as 24 hour or the 7 day detox diet, many people prefer the 3 day detox diet plan. It is just a matter of 3 days of diet restrictions that can positively affect your health. Be it any type of diet, do not forget to drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juice. The diet plan mentioned below will surely help to cleanse your body.

Day 1
On day 1, intake of solid foods should be minimal. On the other hand, increase your fluid consumption to kick start the cleansing process. Include green tea during meals, as it not only supports bowel movement but also contains antioxidants that act as detox agents.

Breakfast
Start your breakfast with a cup of water or herbal tea such as green tea. Then you need to have fruits which include an orange, few slices of watermelon and a grapefruit.

Mid-morning Snacks
You might not be able to bear your hunger pangs till lunch, so it is better to have a small snack at around 10.30 A.M. The usually preferred snack when following this diet is an orange and a glass of vegetable juice.

Lunch
For lunch, you should have a large bowl of salad made up of broccoli, tomato, cucumber and carrots. While preparing this raw vegetable dish, mix small amount of lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil to the salad.

Mid-Day Snacks
There is a high probability that you are going to feel hungry during the time period between lunch and dinner. So, go for high fiber fruits such as an apple or berries.

Dinner
For dinner, it is recommended to have salad and few servings of grilled tuna sprinkled with garlic powder. Depending upon your liking, you can also have 3-4 cooked or grilled vegetables.

Day 2
On day 2, solid foods like steamed or grilled fish can be included at lunch and dinner. The main purpose is to rebuild your system that has lost loads of toxins on day 1. Minimize consumption of fruit juices, instead prefer to have water (approximately 1 liter during the day).

Breakfast
For breakfast, one can have a glass of water, few servings of yogurt, a fruit and teaspoon of honey.

Mid-morning Snacks
Gorge on grapes and then have a cup of herbal tea. Or else, eat dried apricots and raisins in moderation. After eating raisins, drink a glass of vegetable juice.

Lunch
When it comes to lunch on day 2, it is recommended to have a high fiber diet that includes a bowlful of fruit salad, 2-3 slices of wheat bread and a cup of cooked brown rice. Other than fruit salad, you can have few servings of grilled tuna. Or else, one can go for vegetable salad made from red cabbage, tomatoes and radishes. Make sure to add olive oil in small amounts to the salad. After you finish the salad, you can have a cup of herbal tea.

Mid-Day Snacks
Late afternoon, one should avoid eating any solid foods, other than fruits. Curb your hunger pangs by eating a banana. Alternatively, instead of banana, you can eat few servings of pineapple.

Dinner
A bowl of vegetable salad, few servings of steamed fish, a fruit, probably an apple or an orange. Alternatively, one can have dried fruits as well as almonds and cashew nuts. Other than dried fruits, go for few servings of fresh fruit.

Day 3
On day 3, apart from drinking plenty of water, focus more on eating high fiber foods such as fruits, as it promotes healthy bowel movement for colon cleansing. While preparing salads, do not forget to add extra virgin oil, as it helps the body to retain water soluble vitamins.

Breakfast
At breakfast, have fruit salad mixed with yogurt and olive oil. The fruit salad should be made up of apples, mango, pineapple and grapes. You can also include a cup of herbal tea in your breakfast.

Mid-morning Snacks
At around 11 A.M, drink a glass of vegetable juice followed by 5-6 dried apricots. In case, you are not comfortable in having a vegetable juice and dried apricots, go for a kiwi fruit and a cup of green tea.

Lunch
A medium-sized bowl of boiled rice followed by a vegetable soup. Many people prefer to have a lettuce soap along with few slices of fresh wholemeal bread.

Mid-Day Snacks
It depends on your choice but make sure it is light and not heavy on your stomach. You could have one or two fruits such as an apple and a pear. Or else snack on nuts (cashew nuts and almonds) in moderation.

Dinner
At dinner, you should mainly concentrate on eating grilled vegetables. Along with vegetables, go for salad made up of tomatoes, onion and yellow pepper.

After successful completion of this 3 day detox diet plan, do not be in a hurry to start your normal diet. This is because, the body needs some time to get accustomed to your daily diet routine. Also, while following this diet plan, you can include light exercises such as a 15-20 minutes walk in your routine. Keep in mind that healthy diet is the key to keep illness at bay. So, avoid indulgence in fast foods and make healthy foods an essential part of your diet.
