Ingredients
  • 2 pounds lean sirloin
  • 2 cups small mushrooms
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 3 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 medium celery stalks, sliced
  • 12 ounces stewed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 medium carrots, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 medium potatoes, chopped
Preparation

Discard the excess fat from the beef and chop them into small cubes. Once this is done, take a large soup pot and heat olive oil on a medium to high flame. When the oil becomes hot, place the beef pieces in the pot and stir them till they become brown in color. This should be followed by the vegetables, red wine, ground mustard and thyme. After adding these ingredients, reduce the flame to low and allow it to simmer for an hour.

Take some stew that is being cooked in a bowl and mix by adding flour to it. When the flour is completely combined in the stew, add to the rest of the stew in the pot. Homemade Beef Stew Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cubed
  • 3 cans beef broth
  • 6 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 small boiling onions
  • 3 stalks celery, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
Preparation

Take ½ cup flour in a plastic bag and combine it with garlic powder, pepper and salt. When this is well combined, add a piece of meat at a time and shake well so that the beef is well coated. Repeat this process till all the pieces of beef are coated with the mixture. Take some oil in a large pot and heat on a medium to high heat. Place one piece of beef in the hot oil and fry until it becomes brown. Continue the procedure till all the beef is completely browned. After this, lower the flame and fry onions till they become transparent. Remove the fried onions and set them in a separate plate.

Discard the excess fat that is found in the pot and then put in carrots, fried onions, celery, potatoes and broth in the pot. Stir in a medium heat till it reaches boiling point. Reduce the flame to low and allow the stew to be cooked for two hours by covering it with a lid. However, remember to stir the stew occasionally. If you want a thicker broth, after 1 ½ hours of cooking the stew, add a mixture of 3 tablespoons flour and water into it. Mix well and allow it to cook for thirty minutes.

Beef Stew with Noodles

Ingredients
  • 1 pound stew meat, cubed
  • 1 can tomato soup, condensed
  • 1 cup noodles
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1½ cups frozen carrots and peas
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can tomatoes with juice
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
Preparation

Heat oil in a large skillet on a medium heat and fry the beef cubes till they are brown in color. Put in tomatoes, noodles, tomato soup, seasonings and water. Stir with a wooden spoon till all the ingredients are well combined. Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 2 hours on a low heat, stirring occasionally. When the beef pieces become tender, add the grated cheese to it and mix well. Cook the stew for fifteen minutes more and then, add the peas and carrots to it. Cook the whole mixture for an extra seven minutes until the peas and carrot become tender.
