Easily Deceived
Some are deceived by choice but some are deceived by their trust in others.
"Don't touch me Daniel!" Gabriel slapped him across his face.
"What the hell has gotten into you?" He grabbed her by the arm until she felt her blood flow stop.
"Let go of my arm I'm leaving and don't you dare follow me." She tried to tug her arm back but he held firm.
"You're not leaving this place until you tell me what your problem is." He yanked her back indoors and slammed the door shut with his foot.
"Oh I'm pretty sure you know what my problem is Daniel. Don't act stupid." He loosened his hold and she yanked her arm back rubbing the spot where his nails buried into her skin.
"Well would you kindly inform me what the problem is sense you seem to know it." He stood there waiting for an answer and Gabriel sighed.
"Teresa called and told me to tell you last night was amazing and that you two should do it again." She tried to hold back the tears but they found their way out and rolled down her cheeks.
"Baby Teresa is a friend. We had dinner last night I was just congratulating her on her promotion at her job." He said it so effortlessly and with a small quirk to his lips that just screamed "believe me".
"Are you lying to me because I swear to god Daniel-."
He walked up to her and pulled her into a embrace. "I'm telling you the truth. Do you trust me?"
"Of course I trust you." She smiled and thought how dim she had acted. He would never deceive me.
Three weeks later.....
Gabriel closed the door shut and looked around his house. He is going to be so surprised to see me! Thought I would be gone for another two weeks but guess who came home early.
She giggled noiselessly and put her things on the floor in the kitchen. Now where could he be? She looked at the clock on the stove. Well it is only ten thirty maybe he's asleep. She walked over to bedroom and saw him laid out on his back with a look of content on his face. When she walked in his eyes went immediately to her and shock entered them.
"Gabriel what are you doing home so early?"
"Baby who are you talking too-." The girl gasped at the sight of Gabriel and dashed back into the bathroom to find something to wrap herself with. Gabriel stood there this time no tears running down her face but a sense of being betrayed.
"Let me guess. Teresa?" She rolled her eyes and walked out of the room thinking of how stupid she was to believe him.
"Wait Gabriel I can explain-." She was about to walk out the door but instead turned around and said.
"Explain what Daniel? That you lied about the promotion? That Teresa isn't a friend but maybe a girlfriend. Well guess what Daniel now you don't have to sneak around with her just be with her were done."
Daniel sighed. "Gabriel I love you."
She shook her head."Daniel if you truly love me you wouldn't have cheated on me."
"It's just that"
"No Daniel no more lie's I'll see you later to get my stuff out. Oh and here." She tossed their engagement ring at him but he missed and it bounced off the tile floors.
"Maybe if you really like her she'll agree to marry you, though I'd advise her against it."
He was about to speak again when Gabriel turned around and grabbed the door handle.
"I guess we just weren't meant to be goodbye Daniel I hope all your dreams come true."
She closed the door and an emptiness took part in his heart because he had just figured out what he wanted was not Teresa but Gabriel the love of his life. But now it's too late.... she will never forgive me again.
