Earwax (cerumen) has a waxy texture that aids in cleaning the internal parts of the ears. It's secreted in the ear canal, that needs to be removed periodically to keep the ear clean. Then clean the wax mildly with a cotton ear bud. A wonderful home remedy for preventing accumulation of earwax is cleaning the ear with olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil followed by drying it with a soft cloth. If the wax has hardened and compacted inside your ear causing you terrible pain, then you must visit an ENT. Doctors examine the condition thoroughly and then apply the appropriate clinical techniques to remove the hardened wax. Ear syringing and vacuuming are the common techniques practiced by doctors for dislodging earwax and flushing it out from the ear canal.
