Dear Diary
Life has been difficult the last few days. So many deaths have taken place and the town people still have no way of knowing who are behind it all. I can't talk to anyone but you about all of this. Mother won't say a word to anyone since her brother was one of the people to be killed. Father is busy taken care of a hunt. To locate whatever is doing this to the people of Springfalls town. Father tells his family about what has happened and why they believe it to be animal attacks. Father says that all the victims have their necks almost completely ripped out and unattached to their bodies and their heads are almost completely off and blood is smeared all over the ground. What could be doing this? Only a monster could do such a thing to such nice people of the town. All the people have dealt with this horrible problem with different ways. The churches have all gotten together and have begun to pray to the Lord for guidance.

Families are now told to stay inside at night, which is when believed the creature attacks. I can not tell a lie, I am scared, scared that my family will be killed. What will happen if the creature can get inside? Will the town be hopeless? Will we have to move to a different location in a different town? Or start-up another one? The town elders say that everything will be alright, that he has he's finest men out searching for the creature and they will not come back with bad news. But of course he was wrong. They did come back and they did not find any trace of the creature that is doing this. What will happen now? Is all hope lost? Are we giving up? I do wish the creatures will stop and let us be, but I know that will not happen. As long as we are here with meat and blood in our veins we will be nothing but a meal to them. I try to tell father and mother that but it was of no use. They still believe there is hope somewhere in the balance to justice. I wish I could believe, I wish I could pray to God for guidance and let him forgive my sins for believing differently. For believing all hope was lost.
We are all going to die.

The air was cold and moist, dark and damp. Eva believed it was because the weather could tell the world was ending. The town was being destroyed and broken down. Fire and storms being lit into the night sky and all because of one creature who is not willing to give up, not willing to except the fact that it did not conquer the world. We do, Humans who have a meaning in their life and a perhaps. This creature did not understand that. Eva understood it though. It rung loud and clear all through her mind, screaming at her and telling her that it is right and it can not talk so Eva must speak for it. But why me......? Eva asked herself a million times and the same answer sprung out at her. It was most likely because her father was the man who was leading the hunt after the creature. She was to speak to him and let him know that all is lost. That they must relocate to a new town or the savage beast will just get mad and will kill not for hunger but for pleasure. She knew she was right. When the first victims appeared it happened only twice or thrice a week, but since they started the hunt for the creature it has turned to a couple a week to one every night. The blood was on their hands.

Just then Eva's Mother and Father both entered the room with her little sister, Amy. All three of them had a disapproving expression on their faces.
"What is it?" Eva asked with a calm and delight tone. She was not ready to tell her Father to call off the hunt yet.
Her Mother, with her long cotton lace dress dragging along the ground, went to her. She hugged her tight. It felt nice for Eva to be in her Mother's arms. To feel safe in their, she only wishes that her Mother could hug her and tell her it will all be alright without her having to ask questions or suspect anything. But Eva is not a child. She is seventeen years of age and should be ready to marry and bear children. She was engaged to a man and they were to be married by next fall. But ever since the killings the town's people have been focused on killing the animal then celebrating a wedding. Eva can not blame them, how can you sip wine and enjoy yourself with a predator out in the forest watching you and waiting for moonlight to come out and kill, feed. Eva was actually relieved, she did not love the man and did not want to marry him but her Father demanded it and then it was done, written in blood that they were to be married.

Her Father cleared his throat and her Mother let go of Eva and sat next to her on the bed, holding her arms wide for Amy. Dear little Amy, with her sweet round face and beautiful features. She was the most amazing child anyone could ask for. She is sweet and kind and does not complain like other children her age do. She is eleven and has the posture and manner of Eva's age. She is smart even though she does not attend school, she is home schooled and has no fuss over it. Her little green dress she was wearing was cut down to her knees and from then on she was wearing white stockings and then little black shoes. She was beautiful, adorable and was running into her Mothers arms.

Eva just realized her mother's face. It was stained with tears and they were still flowing over her hot red cheeks. She was sobbing quietly into Amy's hair. Eva looked up at her Father demanding answers. Sometimes he could be rough with her when they argued. But he was calm, tall and he's face was looking ahead with eyes like a hunter. He was Eva's Father.
"Mother please don't cry" Amy soothed her. "Be happy, be living, be nice but don't cry"
Eva looked back up at her Father. "Father what is going on? What did you do to her?"
"Nothing" Her Mother answered and Eva was puzzled. "Your Father is granting the wish I wished for long ago"
Eva looked from her Mother to her Father with a bewildered expression printed on her face. What were they talking about?

Her Father answered her private thought. "With the attacks we have all agreed to go to war, to kill this creature or creatures once and for all"
"Your Father has carriages waiting outside to escort all the children and women to another Village" Her Mother said with tears rolling down her face.
Wow, Eva thought. Leaving this town for the first time would be very strange. Her whole life she has lived here and her whole life she has never stepped foot outside the gate and now she was going to a different village.
"For how long" Eva whispered. When they didn't answer at first Eva thought she asked to quietly and then her Father spoke.
"A week at best"

Eva took a long sharp breath and then asked the question which she already knew the answer to. "Will you be coming with us Father?"
Instead of answering, her Father just looked down at the ground and Eva thought she could see a tear swelling in his eye. Her Mother burst into tears which were soaking down into Amy's curly blonde hair. Amy was looking very sad but she was putting all of her efforts into comforting her Mother. Eva was just staring. She was thinking about her father staying behind and risking his life for the Village. About all the soldiers that were to stay and fight. Fight what? They don't even know what the creature is. They have never seen it before. Know one in the Village has, except the people who have been its meal. They don't know how many there are or how strong it is, they're going in blind.

The door to their little house opened and Mrs Humming stepped in and her eye caught Eva, Amy and their Mother sitting on the bed hugging each other. She had a frightened face and she panting as if she has run along way.
"We must........hurry" She panted. She ran over to Amy and lifted her into her own arms. Then she pulled Eva's hand to get off the bed.
Their Father went over to Mrs Humming and put a hand on her shoulder. "Mrs Humming, what is wrong?"
She looked at him and begun to sob quietly. "There here"
Just then the whole family heard screaming and shouts coming from outside. Their Father went to the window and saw the view and then went back to his family.
"The carriage is right behind the Church" He whispered while patting Amy's hair and giving Eva a kiss. "You must all go there and leave now"

He looked into his wife's eyes for a moment and then went outside to fight.
Their Mother was now sobbing quietly alongside Mrs Humming. Then she grabbed Eva's hand and opens the door to the Village.
When Eva stepped outside she felt cold. The wind or the air was not making her feel this way, it was darkness. It was death. People were dying in the village and she could feel it but not do anything to stop it. She looked around instantly and saw something's that made her eyes pop out of her head. Buildings were on fire and burning to the ground. People were running in each direction, screaming their lungs out. Children were crying for their Mothers. The only color that Eva could see was red. Blood was everywhere, coming out of animals, buildings and people. Most of the people they saw were lying on the ground dead. Amy looked up and saw a man trying to hold is insides in and she buried her face into Mrs Humming's shoulder.

"The church is this way!" Their Mother yelled over the crying and shouting. She led Eva by the hand and Mrs Humming was following while carrying Amy in her arms.
Eva couldn't hear anything. Everything had gone silent in her head and her whole mind shut down. Everything was getting blurry and she was starting to get dizzy. She was trying with all her strength to hold on. Most of her body weight was leaning on her Mother. She was soothing Eva on their way to the Church. When they turned the final corner towards the building they all gasped. The Church was gone, nothing behind but ashes. All the priests and nuns would have been in there, praying to the lord for protection. Now they were gone. The carriage was not there either. They saw the horses lying dead on the floor and the carriage gone.
Amy screamed. "What will we do now?"

Mrs Humming hushed her gently and held her against her shoulder so she wouldn't have to see the terrible sight of all the bodies on the ground with their blood drained.
Their Mother was looking around hopelessly, as if she was expecting some sort of hero to show up and save them all, or to wake up from a nightmare. This was a nightmare that you could not awake from.
"Why don't w-"Eva began to say when something terrible happened. It all happened so fast that they were unaware how.
A big dark monster flew down from the sky and picked up Mrs Humming from the ground by her shoulders. With her shoulders going up her hands fell forward and Amy fell to the ground, crying. The dark thing was carrying Mrs Humming away and leaving behind it a low growl that none of them have ever heard before.

"No please! Oh God save me! Oh please HELP!" Mrs Humming's cries could be heard by the entire Village surly. She continued to scream until she was taken over the mountain and then her cries gave out.
Eva ran over to Amy and put her arms around her protectively. She looked up at the sky and realized that there were so many of the dark figures flying all through the sky. Picking up innocent people and carrying them over towards the mountains. She looked from the sky to Amy's terrified face to her Mother for sympathy.
"Mummy what do we do?" Eva asked, so scared that she was shaking all over. Her Mother did not answer. She was looking straight ahead, astonished by what she just witness and then she sprinted towards the edge of town.

"Mum! Mum come back!" Eva called after her but it was no use, her Mother had abandoned them. "Mum please! Don't leave me!"
Amy was crying so hard that she was having trouble breathing. Eva did not have time to run after her coward Mother. She must find shelter so those monsters with wings would not kill her and her younger sister. She held Amy's hand and began to run back into town to find a building or house with a roof or a quiet place where they would not find her. She could not find anywhere that was suitable to stay. She was standing in the middle of the town sobbing.
"Eva!" A familiar voice called out to her. "Eva come quickly!"

She turned around and saw her ex fiance waving her over from a little house that is still standing up. She picked up Amy and hurried over to him. When she got there all three of them went inside. It was nice and warm when Eva stepped in. The house was made of wood so it felt nice and cozy with a fireplace that was lit, which would explain the warmth, and nice comfortable chairs that they all sat down on.
"Thank you Mr Le Roi" Eva said, looking mostly at Amy who was sitting there shocked. "I didn't know what I was going to do"
"Please...." Mr Le Roi said, leaning in closer to her. "Don't thank me"
Eva felt it strange to have to address him by his last name. He was about the same age as her, maybe a year older. That is how the rule goes in Spring falls though. You must marry the person who is the closest to your age. It does not matter cousin or family member, you must do it.

He handed Amy a cotton blanket and she put it over her shoulders for warmth.
"What happened to your parents?" He asked Eva.
"Well... Father went off to fight these things, Mother ran away and Mrs. Humming was carried away by those......creatures." Eva took a deep breath and then looked up at him. She could have sworn that she sore him smile a little.
"Those things have a name" He said, almost a little angry.
Amy looked up shocked.
"There called Vampire Bats"
Eva took another deep breath. "But Vampire bats live up in the caves and are a lot smaller" She claimed. "And besides there just legends that they suck human blood and carry you away. They usually go after the farmers cattle."

Eva realized she was talking much too fast and stopped. Mr Le Roi was smirking at her.
"These are a different breed of bats and are much more savage." He leaned in closer to her. "You know, I could use a drink"
Eva was confused.
He then turned to Amy. "Amy come here please"
Amy stared into his eyes for a long moment and then got up and made her way towards him.
"Amy don't!" Eva cried. Something in her bones told her that it was a bad move. Amy paid no attention to her. She kept her eyes on the boy at all times.

"Good girl" He soothed as she stood in front of him. He got up and kissed her forehead and then he kissed her neck and then Amy screamed. She was screaming so hard and loud that Eva had to cover her ears. Then she could see what he was doing to her. He was biting her neck and blood was dripping from his red lips. It couldn't be true. Eva had heard stories but it was just something the elders told the young ones so they wouldn't wander too far from the Village. She couldn't think about that now. Amy needed help. Eva got up and ran to her.

"Amy!" She screamed. She tried to pull him off her but it was like he was made of steel. He then stopped feeding and shoved Eva all the way across the room, her back hit against the wall and she fell to the ground. She tried to get back up but she was too tired. He had finished with Amy and was now making his way towards her.
"You really shouldn't fight" He said to her while he grabbed her by the throat.
He began to kiss her on the lips and she could taste blood, Amy's blood. Then she felt his lips on the hollow of her throat. End it, she thought. There was no way to survive this so he should just end it. Then she felt the sting. Pain went all through her body and she called here heavy screams, her screams. The pain was stinging through her and she could feel her blood rushing out from her body into his mouth. Then he stopped and she could barely see through the darkness. She saw him bite his wrist and then he put it down to her mouth.

"No" she mumbled into his wrist and tried to fight it but then something happened. She could feel power and the taste of freedom and life. It was wonderful. She could feel her body changing. She could feel her heart racing. She gripped her hand for more and began to suck it all down until the blood stopped coming and then it was darkness.
