Dry Skin Treatment
There are certain important steps that you have to follow to cure as well as prevent your skin from becoming dry. These dry skin remedies are not expensive, rather these are some simple changes that you have to make in your daily routine and you will surely see a difference in your skin.
- Most of us love to take bath in hot water as it helps us in relaxing after a long tiring day. However, experts are of the opinion that hot water is actually bad for our skin and hence should be avoided. Hot water has the ability to take off the natural oils as well as the moisture from the skin, making it dry and scaly. Therefore, one must only use lukewarm water for taking bath and the showering or bathing time should not exceed more than 10-15 minutes. It is also recommended to use mineral water instead of tap water to wash the face.
- After taking a bath, most of us have the habit of rubbing ourselves with a towel to dry ourselves. However, this practice has to be avoided as there are more chances of the skin losing its moisture and becoming more dry. Instead, just pat yourself dry, after a shower as this will save the skin from what is known as 'towel abuse' and moreover, it does not allow the skin to lose its moisture.
- Moisturizing regularly is one of the most important dry skin remedies. It is said that moisturizer is most effective when it is applied soon after getting out of the shower. You do not have to fully dry yourselves, rather just gently pat your body with a towel and apply the moisturizer all over it. Whatever moisturizer you choose, be it oil, lotion or butter, make sure you never miss this step.
- Like adults, even babies suffer from the problem of dry skin during the initial days and hence, it is important to know about the dry skin remedies for babies. Apart from the above instructions, it is also important to take some other precautions to avoid harming the baby's sensitive skin. Never use soap on the baby while giving him a bath, rather use a soap free cleanser that does not contain harsh chemicals. While washing baby's clothes, avoid using detergents or laundry soaps that you usually use, instead make use of tea tree oil and baking soda. Avoid nylon and woolen clothes for your baby, instead stick to loose fitting cotton clothes for the child.
- Men often experience dry skin after shaving and the most common cause of it is the use of an inexpensive shaving cream. Hence, men should only use a shaving cream that has moisturizer in it to prevent the skin from becoming dry. While buying a shaving cream, they should look for one that has ingredients, like, essential oils and avoid those that have alcohol content in them.
