At times, we feel like placing our canine friend in the bathtub and giving him a decent shower. At the same time, we may not have the time and energy to give the dog a full-fledged bath. Your dog getting dirty just after the bath is also a frustrating experience. A majority of dogs themselves are very scared of water and the idea of a bath. The best alternative that remains is a dry shampoo for pet dogs.

To some of you this might sound ridiculous but believe me it can be easily done. The best way to clean your dog with a dry shampoo is to sprinkle it on the dog's coat and then give it a nice comb. You basically have two alternatives, either purchase a dry shampoo, or make one at home. Personally I would recommend you to make that shampoo at home. 1. A large metal container with a good lid.

Procedure
The procedure for making and using the dry shampoo for dogs is very easy and goes as follows.
  • Step 1: First take the cornmeal, even it out and then pour it into the container. Add an equal measure of bran and make sure that the mixture is viscous enough, and there are no lumps within the container. Shake the container well to even out the mixture.
  • Step 2: After you are done with the first step, add the orris roots to the mixture. Bear in mind that the quantity of orris should be half of that of the cornmeal and bran.
  • Step 3: Take a vanilla bean, slice it into halves and then add it to the container and shake well, so that the vanilla bean blends into the mixture of cornmeal, bran and orris. You need to keep the dry dog shampoo, stable, for about 2-3 days, so that the scent of vanilla bean gets mixed into the mixture.
  • Step 4: The most crucial step is to actually use this dry shampoo for dogs. To do so just sprinkle and brush up the fur coat of your dog with this homemade dry shampoo for dogs. It is very important to sprinkle the shampoo thoroughly so as to ensure that the dry shampoo gets well mixed with the fur of the dog. After you have sprinkled the homemade dry dog shampoo, let it set for a few movements and then thoroughly comb the fur of the dog.
  • Step 5: While combing the fur of your dog I would recommend that you either take your dog out of the house or make him stand on a large piece of news-paper as a considerable amount of fur, dirt, dust and dry shampoo tends to come out of the fur coat as you go on combing. It would also be advisable to wear gloves while doing the task. If you choose not to wear gloves, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
