Drown Me in Love - Chapter 14

All good things come to an end...
Chapter 14

All good things come to an end..
*************************************************

*Alexander's POV*

Yawning, I look down at Adriana sprawled over me. Slipping my arm around her waist, I slowly move her so that she's sleeping in a more comfortable position, still lying on top of me. She stirs and I watch as her arm slips around my neck and she buries her face in my shirt. Lying quietly, I go over everything that happened last night.

Diane was a friend of Brittany and Bree, but they had both broken friendship off with her when she didn't give up throwing herself at me. When Adi had said all those things to me on stage before my performance, I was scared. We've become so close and I don't want to lose. I'd practiced that song so many times before with the band and even though it wasn't the song I was going to sing, they had followed once I'd started. It seemed to have the desired effect. Her expression was priceless and once the song was done, she was trembling as I held her.

Sighing, I drop a kiss on her forehead. What do I do to convince her that she's the only one? That I'm falling in love with her?
A few minutes later, Adi moves and I watch as she starts to wake up. Wrapping my arms around her waist, I roll over so that she's lying on the bed. Adi looks up and smiles, rubbing her eyes. I catch her hand and pull it down.
"Good morning."
"Morning." She mumbles sleepily.
I pull her arm around my neck and hovering above her, bend my head down and softly press my lips to hers. I pull back, surprised, when she turns her face away.
"Adi?"
I watch as she blushes. "Not now Alex."
"Why?" I ask, confused.
She refuses to meet my eyes, "Morning breath."

I roll my eyes and turn her face towards mine. "I don't care." I murmur against her lips. Sighing, she gives in.
Minutes later, I pull her up against me as I lie down next to her.
"What are we doing today?" Adriana looks up at me.
"Surprise."
She groans. "You're mean."
Laughing, I turn onto my back and pull her on top of me. Her elbows resting on either sides of my face, her face is inches from mine.
"You're so beautiful." I gently run my finger down her cheek and feel her skin heat up.
"Alex." She groans, blushing.

"Don't." I stop her from turning her face away. I tuck in a stray lock of her hair, that's escaped from her braid, behind her ear. Her beautiful gray-blue eyes are staring into mine and I can't tear mine away. Not that I want to. I could drown in those hypnotic eyes..
The spell's broken as there's a loud knock on my door. I sigh as she slides off me and sits up. Pressing a kiss to my cheek, she then turns around so that her back's to the door as I head towards it.
"What is it Bree?" I ask, irritated at being interrupted. She opens her mouth and I watch as her eyes fill with tears. Looking back I see Adi still sitting in the same position, her head tilted to the side as she braids her hair. "Adi, I'll be right back, okay."

Looking back she nods.
Closing the door behind me, I lead Brianna towards her room. Once inside, she breaks down. I stare at her for a second, my eyes wide, startled, before pulling her into my arms. I listen as everything starts pouring out. How she's lonely, how hard it is to adjust at school, how she alone at home most of the week as Dad's started working. I sit with her for half an hour as she soaks my shirt, comforting her. Finally, she pulls back, her eyes red and puffy.
"I don't want you to go Alex." She whispers and it's like my heart breaks, seeing her desperate expression.

"Bree, I can't stay here."
"Please." She whimpers, burying her face in my shoulder.
Once I convince Bree that it'll be alright and everything, she lets me go. I knock on my door before opening it. Adi's standing by my balcony, dressed, towel-drying her hair. She turns around and smiles, seeing that it's me and my breath gets caught in my throat. She's so beautiful.
Her smile fades as she walks up to me. "Alexander? Are you alright?"
I pull her close, burying my face in her neck, taking in her delicious scent. "It's Bree. She's upset."
Her arms come around my waist. "She was last night as well."
Sighing, I pull back and press my lips to her forehead. "I'll get ready, yeah?"
She nods but as I'm about to turn away, she pulls me back and captures my lips in a delicious kiss.

*Adriana's POV*

I make my way downstairs, my lips still tingling from that kiss. I walk into the kitchen to see Austin standing at the stove.
"Morning."
Turning around, he sees me and drops the spatula he was holding and holds his hands up. "You caught me."
"Doing what?" I ask, peeking over his shoulder.
"Making breakfast."
"That's good. Now I won't have to cook. What you making?" I ask, hopping onto the stool by the breakfast bar.

"I can't cook with people watching." He whines.
I get off the stool, biting back my smile, and roll my eyes. "It better be good." I throw over my shoulder, leaving the kitchen.
Heading into the den, I see the glass doors leading to the backyard open. I step out into the cool air and leaning against the porch railing, look around.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
I jump at the sound of Alex's dad's voice beside me. "Sorry. Did I startle you?"
I shoot him a smile. "I didn't know anyone was here. Yeah, it is."
"Did you sleep well?" When I nod, he chuckles. "My son let you sleep?"

I don't look at him as I feel heat flooding my face. "He was in bed about an hour before me."
He smiles, "I was kidding." We're both quiet, before he turns to me. "I've never seen Alexander so happy."
"Really?" I turn my face towards him.
He nods. "He's always been left out when it comes down having dates and even though his sisters set up dates for him, he never enjoyed himself. I can see why. None of the girls have been half as beautiful as you and personally I didn't like any of them personality wise."
I blush - again. "Thank you."
"I don't mean to make you uncomfortable, Adi. I'm just saying. Has he serenaded you yet?
Excluding last night."
I laugh, "He has, actually."
He grins, "That's my boy."
I laugh. "Can you sing?"
He shakes his head, "Not even to save my own life."
"Where did they get it from then?" I ask already knowing that Alex's mom can't sing either.
"I don't know. It's really strange. All four of them sing beautifully."
"Even Austin?" I ask, surprised.
He nods, "Haven't heard him? He's pretty good at rapping."

I shake my head. "He never told me!"
"Adi, does Alexander still run?" His dad asks me a while later.
I nod, "Yeah. Why?"
"Brianna was telling me that he wasn't on the school's track team..."
I nod, "He isn't. He runs every morning though. We then walk to and from school and he goes running in the afternoon sometimes. And he walks me home after I'm done working."
He nods. "I see."
"And he's on the school's football team."
He nods. "Where do work?"
Minutes later, I feel Alex's arms come around my waist.

"It's cold Adi. Where's your jacket?" He rubs his hands on my arms. "Dad, where are you going?"
"Away from you lovebirds." He winks at me. "And my stomach's protesting. I need breakfast."
"Where are we going?" I ask Alex as we strap ourselves in his father's car.
He throws me a gorgeous smile, "I want to show you a few of my favorite places."
We drive for about five minutes before he pulls up in front of a park.

"Come on." He takes my hand and leads me into the park. "Mom brought us kids for as long as I can remember." He points out places around the park and links it to a memory. Like when Bree, just four years old, had gotten pushed off a swing and how he had gotten in a fight with the boy who had pushed her. Later on, he found out the boy's name was Greg and a few years later, the two ended up being best friends. And then there was the incident where he wasn't looking where he was running and had run into the monkey bars, which ended in him losing his first tooth.

After the park, Alex drives by his old house and then we head over to his favorite restaurant. He chooses to just drive through and pick up our food, since he doesn't want to bump into anyone. After making me eat his favorite burger, a steak burger that's oozing with BBQ sauce, cheese and mushrooms, we stop by at McDonald's to pick up a Smarties McFlurry.

Chapter 14 - Continued...

Enjoy!

We share a spoon and I purposely feed him just as he drives over a speed breaker and end up spreading ice cream over his nose and chin.
He throws me a glare as the spoon, and this time by mistake, shakes and spreads the ice cream all over his cheek and I burst out laughing.

*Alexander's POV*

I've never seen her so carefree, so happy. I watch as she laughs and stop the car, before reaching for a tissue.
"Where are we?" She asks me, calming down.
I pull the ice cream cup out of her hands. "My old school."
"It's so much bigger than our school."
"Isn't it?" I hand her back and start backing out of the parking lot.
"Which one do you like?"
"Our school."
"Why?"
"Because you're there." I answer, turning the car around.
"Where next?" She asks after a beat of silence.

"Somewhere I always went to think. One of the most beautiful places in the world."
The ten minutes drive is silent as I drive towards Lake Ontario. I can feel Adi watching me and I glance at her to see her eyes on me. Turning my eyes back on the road, I reach for her hand.
Minutes later, I park by the dirt road leading down to the lake. I get out of the car and take Adi's hand, leading her towards the water.
"It's so pretty." She looks around at the few families scattered around. The sun's rays are reflected on the water, making it sparkle and there are geese swimming around.
"Come on."
"Where to?" Adriana asks.
"This isn't the place I wanted to show you."

I lead her around the lake, towards the other side, where there are more trees. We walk quietly through the small thicket until we reach a clearing, facing the lake. I lead her towards a huge boulder and help her climb up. There are like two huge boulders stacked on top of each other and the one on top has an opening that looks almost like an opening to a cave. I sit down and pull her down between my legs. She leans back into my arms and we look across at the lake.
"It's beautiful."
"Isn't it? But it's nothing compared to you." I say softly.

Adi turns around slightly so that she's facing me, her back against my leg.
"Adi, you mean so much to me. I really want you to know that. What I feel for you, I've never felt for anyone. And I never will. There's only you Adz and there won't ever be anyone else. I never imagined, never in my wildest dreams did I think, that I'd feel like this. That there would be someone... That there would be such a beautiful, loving girl that would occupy every thought of mine, every dream. That I'd meet someone that would keep me up all night, wondering if life could get any better. And I don't want to lose you. I'll try everything I cannot to but I want... No, I need you to know that I'd never hurt you, that I'll always be here for you."

I wipe away the tear that rolls down her cheek and she buries her face in my neck, where I feel her warm tears. I hold her close, not wanting to ever let her go. Although she doesn't say anything, I don't need words to understand what she wants to say. She doesn't have to say anything, her eyes say it all.
Hours later, we're all at the airport. I pull our bags out of the trunk and set them down on the sidewalk. Behind me, Adi's hugging Brittany and then Brianna goodbye.

"Take care of her Xander. She's something wonderful."
"I know Dad. I will."
"Alexander."
"Yeah?" I turn to Austin, who pulls Adi close.
"Take good care of my sister here. If I hear that you've done anything, I'll come down there and kick your ass."
"You don't have to worry about that."

Adriana yawns, stretching her legs as the airplane starts going down the runway. I watch as her eyes start drooping shut. Reaching over her, I shut her window, just as her head starts sliding down. I pull her close to me so that her head's resting against my shoulder and settle down for the flight.***
"Noo! You don't solve it like that!" Adriana pulls the calculator out of my hands and shows me how to solve the question.

I swear I'm a dunce at Algebra.
I can't believe that we've been going out for over a month. Actually, I can believe it, it's just that time's been going so fast. To mark our first month, I'd sent her favorite bouquet of red and yellow tulips and we'd gone out for dinner. She'd begged me for nothing fancy, so we just stopped at a burger place.
"I think it's going to snow soon." I say, looking out of the Shack's window.
"Yeah. I hope it does."
"Why?"
"So that I can throw snowballs at you."
I reach over and gently tug on a strand of her hair. "Wouldn't be the wisest idea." When she pushes my hand away, I wrap my arm around her waist and kiss my way up her slender neck.

"Alex." Adi moans.
"Mmm?" I suddenly hear a chair being pushed back and pull away and turn to my work just as Simon appears in the doorway. "Adriana."
"Yes?" She looks up from her backpack, where she's putting away her books."
"There was a man that called around, asking for you when you were at school. I told him you weren't here and he said he'd come back later." I glance over at Adi and see that her face has gone pale.
"Oh Okay." She nods.
"You all right?" I ask, pulling her into my arms. She wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me tight
"Yeah, I'm fine."

Simon's out in the front talking to a few customers and Adi's at the other end of the shop, helping a customer out. I just stand around behind the counter, watching everyone. Occasionally, someone would come up and ask me questions on where to find something or if, was available. I've spent so much time in this shop that I'm able to easily provide an answer.

The bell above the door tingles as the door's opened and a man steps in. He looks big with the layers of clothing. He must be over 6ft and has black hair. That's all I can see. He walks over to Simon, his back to me and talks to him. My stomach starts feeling queasy, I don't have a good feeling about this guy. Adi comes and stands beside me just then to cash in a customer's purchase. Once the customer leaves, Simon glances over the man's shoulder towards us.

"Adriana, come here for a second."
I follow her as she walks towards them, less than a step behind her. We walk around the man and I glance up at him.
I really, really, really don't have a good feeling about him.
"Do you know who this is?" Simon asks Adi, who hasn't even glanced at the man.
She turns to him and her soft gasp is audible to all of us. Her face is pale, her eyes huge as she stares at him.
"Hello Adriana." He smiles.
I reach for her as she sways before collapsing in my arms.
Simon turns to the man, his eyes hard. "Who are you?"
"Oh God! What happened to her? We need to get her to a doctor."
I take a step back as he reaches for her. "Don't touch her. And she's not going anywhere with you."
"I have every right to touch her! I'm her father!" He answers, raising his voice.
