Drinking Water Coolers - Is The Water Clean?

Why the water from drinking water coolers could be more unclean than you think.
Since all of the news reports have come out about just how unhealthy it is to drink tap water many companies, and even some private homes have begun using water coolers with built in filtration.

While this idea would seem very sound in order to keep the people in your home or office safe drinking water coolers may not be quite as good a practice as it at first appears.

The truth is that water coolers with built in filtration may not offer you nearly as much protection as the companies that make and service them would like for you to believe. They want you to think that what they are offering you is nothing but the finest, purest water possible.

Before you believe what they have to say, there are maybe a few things that you should know about the bottled water industry.

The industry that provides you with both your drinking water coolers and the bottles of water that refill them is under very little government regulation. Despite what many people believe to be true, the bottled water industry does have certain "allowable" levels for toxic contaminants. These are limits that the U.S. EPA has deemed "safe" for consumption by humans.

The makers of water coolers with built in filtration and other bottled water manufacturers frequently exceed the limits that are set for them however. There have been several recalls over the past two decades by companies that sell individual bottles of water, because the level of the carcinogens in the water was found to be too high. No such recall has been issued for those producing cooler refills.

The fact that there has not been a problem with the water for drinking water coolers may be because of a technicality however. Due to the fact that these bottles are delivered to customers within different service areas within a state, the water is typically bottled locally and then delivered without crossing the state line.

Because the refills for water coolers with built in filtration never cross state lines, the water inside them is not required under the law to be tested for contaminants of any kind. When the delivery man pulls up he could be bringing you drinking water with all manner of toxins. Even the activated granular carbon filter that is provided will not offer enough protection to you to remove all of the contaminants.

A far better option than drinking water coolers is to install in your home or office a countertop or under counter drinking water purification system. A great filter would feature an activated granular carbon filter, a multi media block, a sub micron filter, and an ion exchange. These four filters combine to reduce by 99%, many of the harmful present in your water.

Water coolers with built in filtration are not the solution if you want pure, fresh water. Get a water purification system in order to guarantee beyond a shadow of a doubt that your water is as pure as it can be.
