Dreams Becoming Reality
This is just a beginning. Please comment and let me know if I should continue.
"Mommy where you going?" I asked as she told me she was leaving. "Now Clover, Mommy has to go somewhere but I will be back." She told me. "But Mommy you always say that," I shouted in disappointment. "Clover please go to bed it's 9 o'clock." My mother said. "Fine mommy but you better be here in the morning," I yelled. "Brett, please come and get your sister." My mother yelled. My brother came running. "Sure mom, come on Clover it's time to sleep." He said as he picked me up. My mother went out of the door before I could shout another word. Little did we know that was the last time we would see each other. Brett put me to bed. But as always story time just had to happen.
It was now 1 in the morning. The phone rang. I ran to answer it. Thinking it was my mom I got all excited. "Hello," I said. "Hi, little girl is your brother there?" Asked a man. "Umm yes would you like to speak to him?" I asked. "Yes please." He said. I ran to give Brett the phone. He looked exhausted. "Hello," Brett answered. He paused to listen. His face dropped. It had to be something bad. I may only be 8 but I knew it from the start. "Oh wow." He said. He paused to listen. As he hung up the phone he looked at me with tears in his eyes. He's 15. He's not supposed to cry. "Is mommy coming home?" I asked. He picked me up and sat me on his lap. "Well umm you see Clover... Sometimes things happen." He started. I looked at him confused. "Clover, let‘s just saying... Mommy‘s not coming home." He said. "Why?" I asked still as confused as a fat man figuring out how to lose weight. "Well, mommy's in a better place Clover." He said. "What do you mean, she ran away?" I asked. "No Clover, Mommy‘s…" He paused and his eyes watered up more. "Mommy‘s dead…" He said. He hugged me tight. It finally hit me and I broke down crying. I couldn't hold it in.
What was I to do, I had nothing left but my brother. Though he wasn't of legal age to care for me. "B-b-but Brett, where will we go?" I managed to cough out. "Well Clover, you will be going to live with Uncle Dante. As for me I have nowhere to go" He said. "You're not coming with me?" I asked. "Clover, I‘m sorry, but this is goodbye." He said. He pulled me close. We slept in his bed that night all huddled up. In the morning my uncle Dante picked me up and that was goodbye.
