Dream a Little
This article will help anyone learn that it is possible to dream and still be down to Earth.
How much sleep have you gotten lately? Eight solid, restful, uninterrupted hours per night, right? Well, if you are like most people, probably not. This article isn’t about sleep, though, it’s about dreams.
We all live through the mundane chores and daily work routines. Whether you work or go to school, you know that everyday some things just have to get done. The daily grind can get so boring. Friday night looks good for some: Party, relax, and enjoy the weekend.
Through all this work and a little play, only some of us really take the time to dream. In a literal sense, sure, majority of people in the United States are sleep deprived. What I am really talking about are the goals and the hopes that start to fill our minds during childhood. Of course hopes and dreams change, but do you have new hopes and dreams?
For every stage in life, you should set a goal. Life and circumstances often makes it more difficult to imagine reaching those goals. The truth is, life without aspirations is dull and depressing for some. Create something to look forward to. Put a finish-line in front of you to run towards. Start to dream a little.
Think about what you really want out of your life. It doesn’t matter how young or how old you are. Just think about what you really want. Make plans to get what you want. The most valuable things in life are those things that we work our hardest to achieve. Decide what you want, and start working for it.
Once you make up your mind about what you want to achieve, you can focus what you spend the average day doing on helping you reach that goal. It can also help you focus and stop doing things that hold you back or waist your time.
The thing about dreams is that there is a chance that you won’t reach that dream. That is life and that is reality. This truth doesn’t mean that the odds are naturally against you. People make their dreams happen all the time. Hope alone is not how they made it. Take the "Dreamgirls" for example. It wasn’t an easy road and they didn’t start out on the top. They dreamed, they worked for it, and they made it. Who says you can’t really do that? I say that you can.
It doesn’t matter whether your dream is to be rich and famous or if it’s to lose 100 pounds. You are the only one who can make it happen. Take the baby steps first and work your way up to strides. In other words, start small. Celebrate every step of the way, and always keep your vision ahead of you.
It doesn’t cost anything to dream or reach for the stars. It feels good and can help you enjoy life better. So why not give it a try?
Dream a little. Try to get some extra sleep, sometime, too.
