How to Remove Dreadlocks

Some people may just get tired of dreadlocks. This article will help you in finding a way to manage it and guide you through the process.
Dreadlocks are meant to beautify a person's looks, however, after a point of time, people get bored with it and they want to remove it. According to many people, the only way to remove dreadlocks is by cutting them. But, it is not true as there exists other methods also. Below, I have cited both the methods. The first one is cutting it off completely, while the second is picking it. Let's take a look at them one by one.

The materials you will require for removing the dreadlocks are hair clippers, scissors, conditioner, metal comb and non-greasy shampoo.

Method 1

With the help of scissors, cut off your dreadlocks. Make sure you cut them near the scalp right at the root. Cutting it off completely will help you so that you do not have to pick any hair. In order to shave your head, you can make use of clippers. These clippers will help you to remove the remaining fragments. For having an even cut, you can also make use of these clippers. With a de-greasing shampoo, wash your scalp thoroughly. If there is any wax or grease present under it, you can get rid of it by washing your hair thoroughly.

Method 2

Before you start with the actual process, soak dreadlocks in hot water for 10 minutes. Make sure that the water is hot and not warm. Hot water heat will help in getting rid of grease which is present inside or below it. With a good shampoo, wash it thoroughly. Apply the shampoo and massage from top to the bottom. At the center, massage the shampoo so that if there is any debris present in the center, it will also be cleaned. Rinse it well and make sure that water reaches each dread and also take care that after washing it, there is no shampoo present inside it. After washing properly, apply conditioner and comb your hair.

First, comb the bottom and then move upwards. Lot of time will be required for combing. But, it is worth it as you will not have to cut your hair. After you have combed all the dreadlocks, again apply conditioner. Allow the conditioner to be on the scalp for five minutes. This will help in repairing the damage which is caused while combing the hair. According to me, this is a better method as you will not have to cut it. The only drawback of this method is, it is time-consuming.

Apart from the above-mentioned methods, you can also try different products which are specially designed for the removal of dreadlocks.
