***Off we were, on our journey. Headed to the second square... how will we even know when we are in square two? And once we were there how will we know where to find these brothers? I had so many questions, but I was silent after hearing the White Knight's cold words roll off his tongue. "Watch her, and do not be out after dark, for you will not survive till morning if you are." I was focused on getting where we needed to be and fast; I was not up for disappearing and never returning home.
***We scaled mountainous rocks, rode on rough rivers, and slid down grassy slopes, but it felt like we were getting nowhere fast! My clothes were soaked, I was tired, and the words Robert left no longer lingered with me.
"Ok, it's been forever, are we even in square two yet?"
The Cat was just a few feet in front of me when he turned around to answer my question. "I am." He smiled and waved his arm for me to come closer to him. I did and he finished. "Now you are." He winked his eye and continued, keeping his 'no talking' thing going. I guess he was just raised to be quiet, considering his mother was constantly talking... But it seemed, the longer I was around him, that it was becoming harder for him to keep it up.
***We came out of a forest of trees into an empty grass field. Two men walked up to us. At first I thought the one on the left was holding a mirror, but then they moved separately. They looked exactly the same, but one of them stood with a straight face constantly while the other's emotions changed frequently.
"Welcome, Cat, it's good to have you back again!" the one on the right told him; cat nodded his head. Ah, the silence can be so annoying. "Alice, we knew you were coming." He grabbed my hand and kissed it "nice to finally meet you."
"Finally?"
"Well, of course, we've heard so many stories about you!" he starred at me with eager eyes.
The cat turned toward me and whispered in my ear "You're a legend, Alice, remember that." He then turned around and walked off with the other brother. I listened to what he said and asked the remaining brother his name.
"Dusty, but most people call me Dee."
"Why is that?"
"I don't know, guess it's just a shorter version of my name."
"Alright... so why was I brought here?"
"You really don't know what's going on do you?" I shook my head and followed his beckon to walk alongside of him. His eyes were still eager, like he wanted something from me... but what?
"Would you like to clarify?"
"You're here to save us. You see the White Rabbit has been sending humans from your world here, to give the queen power. The more humans she has the stronger she gets. If she gets strong enough, she will destroy all of us Whites in the kingdom... That's just what she wants. You're here to stop her, to tear down her power source from the shadows, but you have to go on a journey to gain the knowledge you need to do that. Thus you've ended up here." He turned around and backed me up against a tree. "You are much more stunning than I guessed you'd be." He was inches from my face with his arms on either side of me. His eyes burned with passion, yes, that's the word. As he leaned in to kiss me I duck under his arms and ran, but he grabbed me and pulled my back up to his chest. I felt his warm breath on my neck. "Don't run beautiful." I kicked him where no man wants to be kicked, he folded over in pain, and I ran off. When I found cat and the other twin I was so ecstatic I gave Cat a huge hug, which he was not expecting.
"What's wrong?" he whispered. I just looked off to where I'd ran from to see a ticked off twin coughing as he stumbled out of the woods.
"That stupid girl!! Get out of here!!"
"I'm sorry about my brother, you'd better go. I've given you all you need from me." The other twin told us.
Cat nodded as if saying thank you and pulled me along.
We traveled for a little while in silence, but I was getting so frustrated at it I finally just asked....
"So... When are you going to stop this whole, 'not talking', thing?"
He stopped walking immediately, turned around grabbing my waist, and pulled me closer. He ran his lips up my neck, and whispered in my ear, "When you stop wondering." Then he kissed my neck, turned around and continued on, leaving me stunned and breathless. "You coming?" He questioned, flashing his amazing smile.
"Whiplash, much?"
He laughed "Come on, we're a little bit from the house and it's nearly sunset."
"Wait, 'when I stop wondering' what exactly?"
He looked back at me and laughed. "Just come on."
We walked on again... and still... silence. Oh well. After, who knows how long, maybe an hour, we arrived at a small house. He proceeded to tell me that we were only staying here for a few hours just to catch up on out energy, but we were leaving while it was still dark so we would have to be very careful. When I attempted to ask why, he just shook his head. I know there's something out there... something we don't want to run into... but what is it?
***It wasn't long till I was asleep in the house, but we woke up, maybe an hour later, to a fuzzing alarm. He was right... it was still dark.
Love much!
