Double Bed Dimensions
Looking for the exact double bed dimensions? Read on for the measurements of the exact double bed size.

Dimensions of a Double Bed
It's not like you get a bed in only one size you know! Here are a few double bed sizes for you to choose from.
Standard Dimensions
Let's start with the plain old double bed. This original double bed is 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. So making a fairly plausible assumption that two people will be occupying it, each person has about 27 inches to himself/herself. At 75 inches, it can also occupy a 6 feet tall resident quite comfortably.
Pros: Not too big and bulky. A standard double bed is ideal for people with slightly smaller bedrooms, as it perfectly fits in and still leaves some space around to move about.
Cons: The standard double bed unfortunately will not occupy the taller or the larger lot. At 27 inches per person, quite a few of you will be slotting yourselves in it by the skin of your teeth. Perhaps you might like to explore the option given below.
Queen Size Dimensions
Smaller than the king size bed and larger than the others is the queen bed. The queen bed is taller and wider, which means that the residents of the bed will have a bit more space to themselves. How much taller and wider? The overall dimensions of the queen size bed are about 60 feet wide by 80 feet tall, which as a little bit of math will tell you, gives the sleepers 30 inches per person. And you can easily slot in a couple of plus six-footers in it, without any hassle.
Pros: A bigger bed means more comfort for the larger occupants.
Cons: A queen bed is harder to fit into smaller bedrooms. It fits in most, but it leaves a lot less space for other stuff in smaller bedrooms.
King Size Dimensions
The king bed or the Eastern King is pretty much the widest bed around as per standard sizes. It is 76 inches wide, which means that the two occupants get a whooping 38 inches of personal space. And at 80 inches tall, you'll definitely find this bed really, really cozy.
Pros: A good buy for a slightly larger couple. If you have a small child, you can probably accommodate him/her too.
Cons: The only con is that the bed may be too big for the bedroom to accommodate. Too hard to lug up the stairs as well.
The king size bed is also available in another size, known as the Californian King. And with the assumption that had California had a king, that chap would have to be like really tall, the makers have made the Californian King bed fit for an 84 inch human and still has a 72 inch width.
As you can see, there is a fair bit of variation in the double bed measurements, so be mindful of those when you go out to buy one!
