Every year it may happen in your city. There is an office party and some wise guy sounds of to a person in a higher position or acts out after he has way too much too drink. The next week he finds out he is out of job because he violated the rules of business etiquette and embarrassed himself and the company. This is definitely not a good way to conducts yourself at an office party. We have compiled a list of what you might want to avoid doing in order to maintain not only your job but the respect of your peers
Make sure you dress appropriately. What type of office party is it? Are costumes appropriate or are a suit and tie required? Most office parties have generally been formal. Make sure you don’t show up in a superman costume unless this type of dress in required.
Are any guests invited? Remember that the guest you may bring may directly impact you. Don’t bring your buddies who are drunk and make loud comments and use four letter words. A friend who is polite and dresses is quiet may be more appropriate.
Make sure you are also present for the party. If your bosses are expecting you to show up make sure you are present in a timely manner. You may not have to stay all night but a "showing" will do more than good.
Spend enough time meeting and speaking with the guests. This will present you with opportunities to meet new people within the company and network. Who knows maybe this will lead to a new promotion within the company.
Keep your conversations and your mood focused on a positive setting. People will remember the person who was in a bad mood and this will be a poor reflection upon that individual. Loosen up and show your other side. When you see your employers the next week they may feel differently about you if you took the time to meet with them.
