Don't Know What to Call It Read It Anyway!!! :) And Oh, Please Comment!
A girl starts a new school. Please comment telling me your thoughts and opinions!! :)
Emmie sighed and looked over her shoulder at her front lawn. It was mowed, because she had mowed it yesterday for some extra pocket money. She looked down at her blistered hands. Now she regretted it, even though she DID earn $5.00 doing it. I CAN'T show up in school like this!
Emmie thought. But what will make blisters heal in a second? I don't think anything will. Oh well. She thought, slipping her left hand into the back pocket of her knapsack and taking out gloves. At least I have these. But what are you going to do?
Argued the other part of her brain? Wear them in school? You're going to look like an idiot, Emmie. No! The other side of her brain thought. I'm going to WEAR them to school. If the other side of her brain had eyes, it would have rolled them. Yeah, okay, but guess what? It's the first day, it's in September, and it's also, oh yeah, I forgot, WHAT, 70 degrees????
Emmie sighed. She had given up hope. If she wore the gloves, she would look like a freak, and if she didn't, people would think she had some kind of skin problem that was contagious or something.
Emmie stuck with the gloves. She walked to school in silence. Kids around her bumped into her, but not looking at her. Good. Thought Emmie. They're probably new kids around because they're not staring at me and I didn't go here last year. Good. Everything's alright.
Emmie reached school and sat on the brick wall, seeing what people were doing. A group of boys were playing football on the playground, yelling and shouting. Only Emmie wasn't sure this middle school called it a PLAYGROUND.
She thought that because she had seen five girls go by, then one stopped and said to the rest of the group: "Hey, let's go play on the wood chips," And the girls had rushed off, giggling, to the playground.
