Don't Forget Me: Chapter One
Sophia moves from sunny California to cold London with her best friend Lina, to start a new life and get rid of old problems. But will these problems creep back, blocking her one and only chance of happiness? This story is based on true events and fiction. I used my friend’s diary for inspiration and she allowed me to write a story about her life.
Sophia’s POV
I woke up to my best friend Lina, leaning over me slightly shaking the bed so I was fully attentive. I looked up at how stunningly beautiful Lina was and a wave of jealousy rushed over me, she is so stunning. Lina is half Latina with beautiful cocoa skin and deep brown eyes, her lips were full and rosy pink while she had a button nose that completed her perfect face. I rolled away from her the feeling of tiredness rushing through my body, I really didn’t want to get up this morning; I wanted to lay in bed and sleep the whole day away. I felt like I had nothing to lose anyway.
Like my life had no meaning. "Morning sleepy, you have college and I have work, this morning," I remembered that today was my first day of college in London. Yes, London, two weeks ago I had moved from California to London with my new-found guardian, and the girl that happens to be my best friend. I inwardly groaned feeling a huge migraine flush through my head. I pushed her gently off me and sat up rubbing my eyes, looking around the my bedroom in my apartment. I had spent a week decorating it in a ray of pastel colors of pink, purple and blue and I was pretty proud of myself for it.
Lina smiled at me, "Hurry and wash up." I groaned rolling away from her, "Do I have to?" Even though I couldn’t see her I could tell that there was a smile stretching across her face. "Yup I’m sorry you do, as you’re guardian you have to do as I say." I reached out my arm slightly slapping Lina’s nose, then her cheek, up to her forehead. She then grabbed my hand exclaiming, "Ouch, what are you doing?!" I looked up at her smirking, "Honestly… I’m trying to find the snooze button."
She gave me a mock angry face then started to tickle my sides knowing even the slightest touch makes me break out into hysterics "Dude! Stop it!" She smirks at me, "Then get your ass in the shower and I’ll stop," I tried my best to bat her hands away but my tries were all in vain, I gasped, "Okay, okay, I’ll go, yours so annoying Jheez, you're not my mother." I get out the bed smiling at my joke and headed towards the bathroom, I stopped in my tracks as I hear Lina speak, "I know, but I’m the closest thing you have." My heart sank, knowing that was all true. I bit my tongue holding in all the emotions that just wanted to spill out then continued my journey into the bathroom.
Lina’s POV
I sat in Sophia’s bedroom listening to the pitter-patter of the shower waiting for her to finish. I stared at the bathroom door, silently worrying and scolding myself because of what I had said I never meant it, it had just spilled out of my lips like water from a hot fountain. I had to be really careful around Sophia, she’s fragile and she’s now my responsibility. I’ve grown up with her, always feeling responsible for her, since that time… I felt helpless, but I had to make it up to her somehow, now I can. By looking after her. I looked up after hearing her bathroom door open and I saw her step out with a pastel purple towel hitched up under her armpits and her hair dripping wet. Without saying a word, I handed her the clothes I had picked out for her then waited patiently as she slipped the outfit on. I then got on my knees as she sat in front of me handing me a brush to comb through her matted hair.
We sat in silence as I styled her long naturally black hair in one big French plait letting some curly strands of hair loose then tying a deep red bow at the bottom of it. I moved round to her face and started on her makeup, just light makeup because she didn’t need much of it. I brushed some sparkly neutral powder over her eyelids then added some eyeliner and a light shade of red lip plumper to match her red bow. I got up dug through her draws to find a small mirror buried in a mountain of clothes.
I walked back and held the mirror in front of her and she flinched looking away. "Get that mirror away from my face," her voice was quiet, almost hovering above a whisper. So I stood there standing my ground, "Just take a look at how pretty you are." I glanced over at her and saw her shoulders begin to shake and I knew what was coming, "Lina… I said get that mirror away from my face." Her voice began to rise, along with her chest that was silently heaving. "Soph, if you’d just listen to me and," then next thing I knew the mirror I was holding in my hands wasn’t there anymore.
Sophie looked up at me with tears in her eyes, and I looked across the room to a pile of broken mirror shards scattered across the oak floor. Without another word Sophie got up took her backpack up off the floor, turned back to me quickly wiping the tears off that were now staining her cheeks, "I’ll see you after college," and out the door she went. I sighed picking up the bits of shattered glass, staring at each individual piece. This type of thing always happens when I appear with a mirror, ever since… ever since that incident.
Sophia has never been able to look at herself in the mirror, she can’t stand the sight of herself and will avoid it at all costs, but in actual reality she is beautiful. She is quarter Spanish, quarter Latina and the rest of her is American, she has beautiful creamy skin, with dark brown alluring eyes, with a cute button nose and pink stained bow lips. It's funny how she’s completely oblivious about those boys that give her attention but she is stunning all together, it’s just hard, hard that I’m not able to let her see that....

Hey I just wanted you to hear this story because my friend really inspired me this time, I have used different names. Sorry this chapter is so short. I just wanted to give you a little taster and I just wanted to know if I should continue this story along with the others I have started writing. And I promise I will post the next chapters of "Take My Hand" and "Ready Or Not." I’ve just been really busy with exams and a little lazy because I’ve been tired so I promise to do so. Please leave a comment to tell me what you think.
Many thanks, and many sorries.
