Versace, 51, confirmed the news Tuesday after many rumors about 20-year old Allegra’s increasingly skinny appearance. Versace and her estranged husband, Paul Beck, Allegra’s father, said in a statement, "Our daughter, Allegra, has been battling anorexia, a very serious disease, for many years. She is receiving the best medical care possible to help overcome this illness and is responding well. As parents, we are doing our best to protect our daughter. However, due to numerous media reports, we want to let everyone know that we appreciate their concern for Allegra, and we ask that her privacy be respected at this time."

Donatella Versace is the brother to the late fashion designer, Gianni Versace. He was shot to death outside his mansion in July 1997. Upon his death, Donatella became Vice Chairman and Style & Image Director of the House of Versace. After Donatella, Allegra is the heiress to Versace’s vast empire. On her 18th birthday she received a $700 million inheritance from Her uncle, his villa on Lake Como, Italy, and a large townhouse in Manhattan. Gianni Versace and Allegra were reportedly very close before his death.

Donatella just recently launched her new signature fragrance, Versace. She attended the launch in London at the upscale department store Harrods yesterday. Reportedly she declined to comment when asked about the status of Allegra’s health. Donatella also has an 18-year old son, Daniel with Beck.
