Donald Trump to Decide Fate of Miss California Carrie Prejean
Miss California USA Carrie Prejean must wait for The Donald to decide whether or not she will be allowed to keep her crown.
Less than 48 hours after the much-anticipated the season finale of The Celebrity Apprentice, Donald Trump will once again get to bask in the spotlight. Sometime this afternoon, Trump will announce his decision regarding Miss California USA Carrie Prejean. For those of you who don't follow this type of nonsense, Prejean is the current runner-up for the Miss USA crown and it is widely believed that she would have won the title were it not for her response to a question about gay marriage.
In short, Prejean answered that she believed in a traditional view of marriage - that it should be between a man and a woman - and thus she didn't support gay marriage. Given the stage she was on and the fact that the question was asked by openly gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, Prejean found herself in a media firestorm following the pageant. Hilton and a few other media hounds made it their personal mission to destroy the beauty pageant contestant - and the religious right locked onto her as a potential mouthpiece for a younger generation.
Ultimately, Prejean is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Photos have surfaced of her posing suggestively as a teenager, which must in some way be a violation of her eligibility for the Miss USA-sanctioned competitions. So Trump gets to leverage the controversy and the firestorm in order to get a highly-publicized press conference where he alone will decide the fate of a beauty pageant contestant and instant celebrity.
