Dona Paula Beach in Goa

Dona Paula Beach, situated 7 kms away from Panaji and is one of the most romantic place of the state. The beach myth or Reality

The name of the beach, itself depicts the love-story of Dona Paula de Menzes, the daughter of Viceroy in colonial India. According to legend, the beach saw the doom of the girl after she fall in love with the local fishermen, Gaspar Dias. This inhuman treatment against the love-birds are still remembered and it is believed that her irrepressible spirit can be felt in the moonlit waves, till date.

Dona Paula is a place of admiration. Just like its underlined sweet love saga, the vast coastline, fringed with palm and coconut grooves offers great mood to beach-lovers. The rides are scheduled from early morning till late evening and takes the visitors into the nearby island, bird sanctuary, glamorous beach resorts etc. Also, local concert and cultural programmes are arranged in the ship itself and offers visitors, some best moments of joy.

The beach sides are also developed with a number of food-stalls, which are availed with local Feni, and tempting culinary blend of sea-foods and vegetables. Also fishermen-turned-local vendors wander around with a collection of antique trinkets, straw hats and other attractive must-buy products, which allures beach-lovers in no time.
