Dog Obedience and Behavior Problems Are Your Fault - Do You Know Why?

You may be unintentionally training your dog to react aggressively and negatively to everyday situations. Are you 100% sure that you aren't destroying your dog's behavior and causing obedience problems without even knowing it? This is a real eye opener, trust me. You need to know this information before it's too late!
You may not realize that you are actually training your dog to behave negatively in certain situations, but it is a common occurrence among dog owners. The way you react in certain situations has an effect on your dog's behavior. After reading this article, you'll realize that you may have trained your dog improperly, and that it needs to be corrected.

Reflect on this statement for a second: "Your dog only knows what happens when." This means that your dog anticipates what will happen next time, solely based on what happened this time.

For example, let's say that visitors are coming to your home. Your guests approach your front door, knocking jovially. In a whirlwind, your dog barks and runs in circles, curious about who is trying to enter his domain. Then you shout at your dog to keep him quiet and try to shove him away as you go open the door. All right... After unlocking and opening the door, you warmly welcome your company inside. Excited to see your guests, your dog jumps up on them and starts licking them all over. Unhappy with your dog's action, you yell at him and put him in the basement because you don't like his excited and unruly behavior.

If you keep on yelling and locking your dog in the basement, he will become more anxious and unruly whenever you have visitors at home. This may even make your dog react aggressively whenever you have visitors. He will know that everything is happy and normal when he and your family are at home together. He will also associate the arrival of visitors with his being yelled at and locked away. You've just managed to teach you dog that every time a guest arrives he will get yelled at and locked in the basement. His only logical response will be to start seeing guests as a bad thing.

The important point is that you should be aware of handling your dog properly in all kinds of situations, so that he is not negatively impacted from the experience. Realizing that you did not properly train your dog is a step towards an enjoyable life together with your dog. Obviously, not every situation can be addressed in this short article. Recall all of the other situations that stick out, and assess how you reacted in those instances. You'll probably realize that the way you trained your dog should be corrected so that you and your dog will have an enjoyable life together. Having said this, I hope that I have helped to educate you a little about how you can be training your dog in the wrong way without ever realizing it.
