Doctor Under Fire in Death of Kanye West’s Mom

Adams has not discussed what surgical procedures Donda West, 58, underwent on Friday before she passed away on Saturday evening. He did offer the family his condolences saying, "I want to first express my deepest condolences to the West family at this very difficult time. As a medical doctor practicing in this field, I hold sacred the bond of confidentiality that exists between the patient and doctor. Out of respect for the West family, and the absence of verifiable information, any comment without having first discussing that information with the family would be unprofessional." An autopsy was performed Tuesday to determine whether or not she died from complications from the surgery. The results are expected in the next four to six weeks.

West underwent a medical procedure Friday and was reportedly sent home rather than to a recovery center. She reportedly suffered cardiac arrest on Saturday afternoon and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts from hospital staff to revive her, West was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m. She reportedly had a tummy tuck and a breast reduction procedure and Adams claims that nothing went wrong during the procedure.

Adams has a history of malpractice suits and has two alcohol-related driving arrests on his record. It has also been reported that the Medical Board of California recommended that his license be revoked or suspended. He has been slapped with two malpractice suits and was order to pay over $500,000 in settlements for the cases. A former girlfriend sought a restraining order against him in 2002 and at least three other lawsuits were brought against him over the past two years.
